Guest guest
Was this a provocative urine (where the child took a chelator first?) or regular urine? Sometimes you can get a high arsenic reading in urine if the person just ate some tainted fish. While it's not good to eat fish with arsenic, a healthy body can eliminate it usually. Catching that particular arsenic in the urine doesn't necessarily mean the person is toxic. Look for various sources in your neighborhood: golf course, orchard or ballfield nearby (they often spray MSMA, an arsenic herbicide), treated wood on decks and playgrounds, an electronics manufacturer nearby that may not be handling their arsenic properly. Also, if your child eats a lot of fish, this could be a source. Gaylen

Check for sources of current exposures http://www.danasview.net/metals.htm >>Can this be a pesticide thing? Arsenic is a common pesticide, as well as being added to wooden playground equipment. I heard from a friend that she had a friend whose two ASD > kids were both high in arsenic. Is this common? Should I be > worried...well, I am already worried but should I be flipping out? Flipping out probably won't help LOL, so I would not recommend it. Yes, other kids have tested high in arsenic, although I'm thinking of hair tests as well as urine, and I certainly can't quote numbers. If you want to you can look at the SMALL collection of hair tests that are cited here: http://home.earthlink.net/~moriam/HOW_TO_hair_test.html (there is a section with links to some hair tests posted on this list. BUT there are many many many more posted since....) Also there is a list (small, very slow posting rate) about antimony and arsenic, which might be of interest: antimonyandarsenic/ > > Also, Drs Data hair came back low in arsenic (0.031 ug/g, ref range > <0.080). gee, that is interesting. Makes me wonder if you have current exposure (rather than on-going cumulative level in the body). Was this a challenged urine test? > Mercury was 1.0 ug/g, ref range <0.40). is that yellow or red? > Mercury was low > on urine test. Has anyone had differing results on mercury as > well? Having different results on different tests is normal. I'm wondering again if the urine test was challenged and if so what dosage.... > I need some advice as to what to do. Our DAN is all about > test test test and I just need some advice. Anyone? uh oh, I'm not sure what advice you want. Hummmmm. Well, maybe something I already said ? good wishes, Moria
