Guest guest
Judie: All signs of congestive heart failure are totally gone. I have stopped taking all my heart medications. I had a checkup with my cardiologist a few weeks ago and he gave a clean bill of health. I have had some swelling in my feet. I have been taking lasix, a diuretic which seems to help the problem. Additionally my protein levels were slightly low. So I've been concentrating on that, taking a protein shake most afternoons. The swelling seems to have gone down. Regards. Guest guest
Yea Joe! Way to go~ Also, thanks for your long post about the emotional dip that many go through before things clear up and get better. I am so miserable now. I hope I never forget how helpless it feels to not be able to get out of a low chair or cushy couch. I hope I never forget the frustration of getting so out of breadth I feel like my heart's going to burst after only about 10 steps; or how embarassing it is to realize that 'normal' people are walking rediculously slow so I can keep up. Am I being masocistic? Heck no! I still haven't forgotten how empowering it used to feel to do walk-a-thons, or liberating it felt to be able to keep up with others as I skied down a mountain, how powerful it felt to be able to go on 135 mile bicycle treks and wonderfully romantic to go for overnight sales on my dear friends yacht, which I can't even get on at my current weight. I remember how glorious it felt to be part of a really good choir. Now I wouldn't be able to stand for even one song, let alone a concert. I want to remember all so I can keep the two different qualities of life in mind. I want to stay focused on where I'm headed and never forget what I'm leaving behind: the imobilizing misery of severe morbid obesity. a round of hugs, on me gobo " Sometimes We Never Know How We Influence the Lives of Others, Yet We Touch Those Lives Just the Same " > Judie: > > All signs of congestive heart failure are totally gone. Guest guest
Judie: I am really not a diagnostician. The cardiologist told me that he suspected two causes of my swelling. First was the low protein levels. Second was that there was a possibility that there had been some damage done to my bile ducts in all the surgeries they did on me. He gave me some Spironolactone. He said that this could clear up swelling if it was due to bile ducts. But it might not. And if not the problems were probably permanent. But it is only in the ankles and feet. Well, the swelling did go down. He said that it would be a one or two month course of treatment. I doubt that Mike's swelling is congestive heart failure but as I said I'm certainly not an expert. Lots of things can cause swelling in the legs and feet. Getting it checked out is certainly worth while, especially if he has shortness of breath as well. But while he should see the doctor I wouldn't worry too much. Regards. Amazing! The reason I asked is Mike has some swelling of the leg below the knee and around the ankle but was never diagnosed with congestive heart failure and Im trying to figure out what the cause of it is.....I just hope its not congestive heart failure! Will have him call the doc tomorrow and make an appt but wanted to hear from you how you were doing and if you had any ideas what it might be? Hes had it for awhile and it went away temporarily and is now back......
