Yes, we did a sputum test just weeks ago and it came back all clear! His

immune system checked out OK as well. His sweat test was done a Childrens

Hospital in DC which is a recognized CF center. Does anyone

know.........Does a true negitive sweat test produce extremly low numbers?

was 39. Dr says she considers 40 a positive but givin Collin's

history.......

Hello

Have they ever done a sputum test on your son to see whats growing in his

lungs?

Also CF has over 900 mutations and only 75 are checked for.There is

something

called Ambry testing that tests for 800 I believe.

Have they looked into immune system problems? Collin should have a sweat

test

done at a Nationally recognized CF center.I would see about getting the

genetic screen and go from there.

ALso get the soutum culture to see what antibiotics are best.

Thanks Tina. Well she justs wants me to add whatever it will take to get the 900 calories. I just had my breakfast and the calories were 175 I tried to do better than that but couldn't. She isn't concerned about the snacking thing right now she says we need the calories so we can burn them rather than nothing or burning the little that we do have. I think that I'm going to try to find a protein shake with higher calories I have one that is only 90 calories which I drink one sometimes 2 a day of. The only reason they are only 90 calories is because I'm afraid to try them with milk so I use water and that makes the calories lower. I'm 4 weeks out as of yesterday. I'm trying to trac my calories in fitday.com to see how I'm doing but sometimes I chart before I eat then don't finish stuff so its not always accurate totally but I do try. So how have you been doing Tina any dumping? I know that you have already lost more weight than

Well Tina I hear you not wanting to eat at all I'm the same way. I eat only because I know I have too. I've had dumping a couple of times and it doesn't feel good at all thats another reason I don't want to eat either because you never know if you will get ill or not I have eatten the same thing and once it made me dump and the other it didn't I hear that is normal though. You might want to consider eatting at regular intervals that is what my Dr. also recommended. Well that is great 20lbs keep up the great work and don't overdue the exercise and make sure you get your protein in especially if you are exercising or you will burn your muscle not fat. I mentioned to my Dr. that my husband wants me to go join the gym she wasn't too happy with that since she said we already eat too little and can't afford to burn allot off right now. Well hope you continue with all your success it is wonderful to hear your story. Keep me posted

Tina I'm so on stage III foods I had my surg in Fremont and they are also 12 weeks out to advance. Not sure about SSF. I found a drink called Glucerna it has 10gms of protein and 7 gms of sugar and 220 calories so I'm going to add that into my day. I don't think I will make it to 900 but I'll do the best I can right now I'm at 380 and very very full I'll do what I can and won't push it so I get sick. Take care and keep me posted as to what you find out ok thanks

Try Hood milk, it only has 70 callories per cup, but is sweetened with

Splenda and won't make you dump. Another thing that might work is soy

milk, Silk is a good brand. It has more callories, and I don't know how

Tina I think your right according to the info in my binder 90 is too much. Every Dr. is a little different but our binders from Fremont should be the same. I know your from Richmond and they don't like there people to drink the protein shakes for some reason. They do really help get the protein in though. Good luck and thanks for any info you might get
