Even more frustrating is the fact that many of the same products, market be different companies or under different names, have different aftertaste levels. For example, the Stevia plant yields its major glycosides (stevioside, rebaudioside A, rebaudioside C and dulcoside A) from its leaves. The main glycoside, stevioside, is between 110 and 270 times sweeter than sugar. It also has the strongest/bitterest aftertaste. Of the Stevia plants major glycosides, rebaudioside A has been shown to have the least amount of reported aftertaste, but it only represents about 3% of the volume of each leaf. Most Stevia products that are created by processing the entire leaf will have the strong aftertaste whereas those that strip the Rebaudioside A portion from the others and concentrates it will have little or no aftertaste.
