Guest guest
Yes, peanut butter is something you have to watch the fat on, and be careful to get kinds with no sugar. I have it on bread every morning tho, as it's high in protein. I get 'natural peanut butter', of which I can find several brands in my Canadian grocery store. It's made with just the nuts, no other agents. Except maybe salt in some brands. Generally sugar is added to PB to keep the natural oil from separating, so if you get natural, you have to stir the oil in or pour most of it off. (The latter will help you get rid of part of the fat.) Melisma (going back to lurking here under her Rock)

From what I have been reading about peanut butter on the Internet in the last two days, Melisma, sugar is added to help stop the oil going rancid in storage, especially after the jar has been opened. > ... so if you get natural, > you have to stir the oil in or > pour most of it off. One recommendation I read was to pour the oil off and replace it with an oil lower in omega-6 oil, like olive oil or macadamia nut oil if the peanut butter is too stiff without it. http://www.mercola.com/2003/aug/20/peanuts_health.htm Regards
