Guest guest
Dear Sandy, First, I am not interested in any past interactions you and Andy have had. It's just not my concern. None the less, I think I *may* be able to add some info that may interest you. If it doesn't that is fine too. When you said (a day or two ago) that Andy HAD told you to not take ALA alone, I thought, okay, well, I guess I'll hear something new here. Like, I wanted to know what was so special about your case. When I said I'm very familiar with Andy's advise, it is not an exaggeration. There are some topics I don't really grasp (can I say " grok " here?) -- and consequently in some areas I don't understand his advice very well even if I've read it zillions of times. Whether ALA can be used alone is NOT one of these areas. Andy's advise is clear, and I think I grok it. I've probably read at LEAST a couple hundreds notes from Andy that touch on this in one way or another. The ones I've indexed are in ANDY_INDEX. (Which is a VERY small subset.) Andy is VERY consistent. I told him once that I find (some of) his advice " like a broken record " , which he, quite properly, took as a compliment. (It is.) I've read the autism-mercury list (where Andy USED TO post regularly) consistently from about August 2000 to present. Several months ago, for several reasons, I went back and started reading the archive for that list (post by post, scanning it), from the beginning of the list -- which is Feb 2000. And, guess what I found? Andy was saying the same stuff then. Minor changes in emphasis. Nothing in conflict that I could see, and mostly " the same old tune " . > Please note: To be sure... > YOUR info is the ONLY info I have EVER trusted, and followed, > to the best of my ability, since early 2000. And I have told COUNTLESS > people that fact, who can confirm it, as some are on this list. So, Sandy, here is something you and I have in common. We both think Andy's advice about chelation is worth listening to. In any case, whether Andy ever answers your specific round of questions here or not, it is EASY to verify what Andy's thoughts are about ALA--- go read the stuff in ANDY_INDEX. It took me lots of hours--- you may as well use it. > I am also still confused as to whether, after 2 years no Hg intake, I can now > take ALA alone and not be bothered. I had a tough ALA experienece the 1st > time, > and a good one the 2nd time, and this was due to your recommendation to cut > the dosage WAY down, due I suppose to the reactions to it resulting from my > 15 years of eating the worst fish and lots of them. Do you know if you are reacting to the mercury or to the sulfur or maybe some other unknown thing in ALA? If the mercury, use less. If sulfur you can sulfur-restrict the rest of your diet (which would help you tolerate the ALA) and then use less IF needed. There may be other reasons you might react too, I don't know. [Don't bother to ask about sulfur, there is a whole section about it in ANDY_INDEX, as well.] You could also revisit supplements. You could also revisit dose, does schedule, the whole thing. > > > I will check on the archives though. Thanks. > I read them all , by the way. Oh--- well maybe this is the stumbling block here--- this list is new, there is not that much IN the archives. Go read the archives of autism-mercury. If you try to read all of Andy's posts I don't know how long it will take---- but it would be measured in weeks or months not hours or days. Good luck with your chelation efforts. regards, Moria http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Autism-Mercury/files/ANDY_INDEX http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Autism-Mercury/files/Andy_dose_sched http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Autism-Mercury/files/Andy_protocol [please note that in this case Andy was limited to 2 pages so this is rather basic, and he has commented that he feels more information than this is needed.]
Guest guest
1. Try ALA alone. Low dose, see how it goes. You need 30-100 cycles of it to really change things. 2. Gut/sinus issues. Part of this may be allergy, and your now more healthy immune system does have the unfortunate function of remembering all the antigens it inappropriately sensitized to when you were toxic. I still eat handfulls of allergy medications myself. While my allergies are dramatically better than they used to be, they are still present. I expect this to take several more years to get to " normal " again. From what I hear and my prior experience of allergies coming and going, it seems to take about 5 years for the allergies to go away once your toxic load is reduced, or at least stable for a while. Also as I recall you have some anatomic abnormalities in your sinuses. These are not going to improve with detox, and may be causing some of he problem. 3. It is true I am more busy than I used to be, and by the nature of things one does interact with certain people a lot for a while, then not so much later on the internet just as in regular life in the neighborhood, at the bar, in professional societies or clubs, etc. Andy

Wow-- I find this really hopeful--- that stuff (at least some stuff) may just improve REEEEEEALLY slowly--- and that, while taking handfuls of allergy meds, you are still expecting it may " right itself " in time. That's all--- just, " gee, that is cool " . I'll try to remember it while stuggling through my allergies! Moria

I'll try to remember > it while stuggling through my allergies! Aside from many reports from others I have been through this a couple of times in my life already (that happened after dental work or vaccines, which I didn't put together for many years afterwards). The reason it doesn't go away quicker is that it IS a normal healthy function of your immune system to STAY sensitized to things for a long time. The unealthy part is GETTING sensitized, which happens while you are toxic, but once you are well the normal healthy part takes over and you have to be patient. BTW, accolate really does reduce allergic sensitivity. It is a twice a day pill nominally used for asthma. The doc's get free samples of it by the shopping bag full. The nutritional supplement CLA (conjugated linolenic acid) also helps reduce allergic sensitivity AND is a weight loss aid. 3 grams (3 gelcaps) a day. > Moria
