Also making news was a recommendation from the Public Health Service and the

American Academy of Pediatrics for the elimination of thimerosal from all

vaccines. This is based on concern that children less than 6 months of age

may be exposed to toxic levels of mercury. Thimerosal is a potent

antibacterial and antifungal agent containing ethyl mercury (most human data

on mercury toxicity is based on research with methyl mercury). The FDA

estimates that there are over 30 licensed vaccines/biologicals containing

thimerosal.

I was searching for mercury in antibiotics and came across this. Before I

became aware of my chronic illness I became intolerant of thimerosal in my

contact lens solution. SJ
