Hi everyone,

My name is and I have recently joined the group.

I was diagnosed type 1 diabetic back in January of 2003. I was 29 at

the time and the diagnosis came as a complete shock. I thought I was

in the best shape of my life. Funnily enough, at the time of my

diagnosis I was trying to get pregnant and found out on the same day

that I was in fact pregnant. After a rather stressful pregnancy, I

had a healthy baby boy. He is almost 10 months now and is just

fabulous. Adjusting to a diabetic lifestyle has been really hard, I

was on a very strict routine during my pregnancy so I have been

trying to relax a bit since his birth but I suppose my life will

never be the carefree one it was before I was diabetic.

The one thing I was wondering if anyone out there could help me with

is a question regarding my weight gain. I am currently 10lbs heavier

than before the baby. I don't know if it is because of the pregnancy

or the insulin, (maybe both). I have heard that people on insulin

tend to gain a bit of weight. Has anyone experienced this? I

excersise daily and eat well (with the occasionaly treat). I just

feel that despite my best efforts the weight won't budge.

I look forward to participating in this active and informative group.

Yours

TANYA
