Guest guest
I wanted to say Thank You for wecomeing me into the group. I have been struggleing with trying to get good help for this child basically on my own. I did join a dieffernt group earlier but they kept getting in a huff because and my speeling and grammer is not great. I wasnt there for spelling and grammer lessons . I live in a small town we dont have a bus or taxi and the nearest hospitals ar 11/2 to 2 hours in each dierection. We do have a blood meter it is an accuchek with comfort curve strips. He is great about getting checked as he dosnt want to have anothere seizure. He has a great sense of humor for all he has gone through. He says if he lets seizures and sugar problems get him down he wont accomplish anything in the future. He had great teachers last year that listened to him and let him fly. He is going into 2 grade and according to nerologists that if a child has seizures they should be delayed. Well he is in a advanced 2/3 grade split class. He didnt qualify for special ed he was to advanced. When ever he had a sub he walked up and told her his name is william nad he has sugar problems and seizure problems. You would be suprised of the stunned looks on thier face as he explained how to tell the difference between a blood sugar seizure and a regular seizure and what to do and how to take his blood sugar. Where his juice is and how to get the nurse fast. Sometimes he is a little to advanced. Unlike me he has no fear of the seizures. I did take him to uva a teaching hospital in charlottesville va they were the ones who gave me so many problems for a year. I now have him with a teaching hospital in Richmond Va. The nero there has been a big help. He has to go 1 year without a seizure before I can get him on my husbands insurance. His seizure med is quite expensive but it is going down as the new nero thinks its more of a sugar problem then a epilepsy problem. He is down to 6 1/2 pills a day wich comes to 481.32 month. The nero has gotten me the strips and lancets through her office. I will call her on Monday and tell her I want to speak to a dietician and nutrishonist. I cant get state aid for him as his bio sperm doner ( thats what I call this sub human) I refuse to let him see william give visitation or tell him of his whereabouts. has our last name and paterinity has never been proved. This persom assulted williams sister when she was 2 and exposed himself to her and other things but it came down to his word over hers even with a broken hymen. He had a lot of ties with the local police and his mother worked with social services. So i moved us a long way away. So for the next 4 months my fingers are crossed. I do have a seizure trained dog and if william breaths funny he comes and gets me and if he seizes he lays over william so he wont roll off his bed or roll around on the floor and hurt himself and the dog holws loud untill someone comes. Since watchig his bloodsugar levels we havent had any awakenings. Is there a way to bring high blood sugar down? What is to high for a 7 year old? And how high should a meal get after eating? The last time we say an endo he said he souldnt go above 120 if thats the case after meals he sometimes is in the 250. It stays there and goes down after 4 hours to 190. Not to sure about the numbers yet I have been documenting everything he eats. Well please keep the advise coming and thank you all for being so nice.
