Guest guest
Marsha, Andy has sorta answered this question in miniature because I have some surgical steel sutures that amount to almost no metal and I would guess they have nickel in them. They hurt sometimes. I called the hospital and doctor who put them in and they seem to be absolutely bound and determined to NOT HELP ME find out if these contain nickel, to which I have become very sensitive. Gold bothers me too. I am chelating. I did ten dmps treatments IV and fared ok, although I would have quit earlier if my doctor had been listening to me when they began to make me sick. Now I use ALA and what I understand is that I ought to keep an eye on my nickel. Then I guess you'd use his book to develop some sort of an approach to deal with nickel in your body. Neither of us can take ours out. Mine is in my pilonidal sutures and it would probably set me back 6 months to have those thin sutures removed. The doctor who did it was an idiot and I was not smart enough to say " no " . But then I was not smart enough to say no to the dentist who placed all the fillings either. That is probably all you will get from the group as far as similar experience, unless Andy has something he will add. I do not think in my case the nickel being taken out at this point would be good, for you it sounds awful. I am sure Andy will help if he reads your subject line. I just wanted to tell my rather irrelevant story to you so that you have someone else to go on as far as chelating with nickle. Also, as I forgot, some stupid dentist lost the tip of his drill into my jawbone and it could not be retrieved. I suppose we just have to chelate anyhow. Guest guest
I can't be the only one here with surgical metal in me. I have a metal plate in my cheek and my naturopath has asked me to find out what it's made of before I begin chelation. I think it is stainless steel, which means there is nickel in it (I think). My homeopathic dentist thinks it would be good for me to have the plate removed, and I don't see how this is possible because it was placed when my cheek was shattered in a vehicle accident and it would be quite complicated, if not impossible, to remove it. I also have a clip in my chin, which could be removed. I also don't think it's possible to find out (at least through records) what the plate is made of because I had over $200,000 of medical bills and to have them copied so I can look through them isn't feasible either, and the task would be an unhealthy emotional ordeal for me. HERE'S THE QUESTION: Is it impossible to chelate with a metal plate or pin in my body? Also, I had forgotten that the surgeon built up my cheek with a modified implant, so I think there's a tiny amount of silicone in there as well. Is there a way to test this plate and pin, with a computron or electrodermal machine (I forget what the thing is called)? I'd like to hear from Andy, if possible. Is there anyone else here who has dealt with surgical metal? Thanks, Marsha

Guest guest
, Thanks for your feedback. Once in awhile my face hurts or feels stiff where the plate is. For awhile I forgot about the plate (until it showed in my panoramic x-ray); I just thought I had weird sensations in my face because my nerves are messed up right there. I still don't know, but I believe the metal plate and clip cause me little direct pain. As far as indirect problems, I really don't know. It just seems to be one more complication in this whole mess of deciding how to chelate. I just got Andy's book. Maybe there's something in there about this. Guest guest
> HERE'S THE QUESTION: Is it impossible to chelate with a metal plate or > pin in my body? It is possible. It might be OK. All the choices of metals are less toxic than mercury anyway. And they do use pretty inert, corrosion resistant materials. Sometimes titanium, occasionally tantalum, often stainless steel. I don't know how you would tell other than check medical records. >Also, I had forgotten that the surgeon built up my cheek > with a modified implant, so I think there's a tiny amount of silicone in > there as well.
