Liz,

Did it hurt much? When I became aware of not being able to donate

blood due to CJD I mentioned to a friend: " what about organs? " But never

thought of putting it on our drivers license. WOW....good idea!! Keep

thinking...and stock up on Tylenol. : )

Liz, I've thought about this as well, and I do believe it is a feasible

proposal.

I've had to renew my drivers license since my dad's death. Here in Georgia we

pay more for the license if we're NOT organ donors. I asked the Georgia State

Patrol, who administers the testing, about exceptions for those not medically

allowed to donate organs. No one knew the answer, and I didn't follow up.

Since I'm moving soon and want to have my new address on my license (and

hopefully a better picture!), I'll check with the authorities again and see

what happens. It certainly can't hurt, and something good may come of it.

4. Why not lobby to have something added to the organ donation

section on a drivers license that we are excluded as a result of

CJD? When people get their license and see that on there they

will ask what it is. This would be a way to reach a lot of people

that have never even heard of the disease.

What does everyone think??? Is this a feasible idea?

Liz -

This has been something that I have been thinking about, too. I have

always marked the organ donor section on my license, but am now questioning

it because of my Dad's CJD. Maybe we should pursue this a little further.

Don,

Just wondering....did you ever talk to your friend that was a cousin to

Pres. Jimmy ? What did she say?

Great idea Liz! Another way of getting the word out!

This is unrelated but since I cannot attend the conference, would it

be possible for someone to make a tape of it for me? I will be happy

to pay applicable costs.

Thank you.
