Guest guest
, The products don;t have to list carbs if there is less than 1 a serving. I can't answer the question on bacon. I just buy Mayer Center Cut. I think in Atkins it says 0.5 for 2 strips of bacon. He also listed it as a free food so I just assume it is free. Maybe there is enough fat and protien in it that is cancels out the sugar!! Guest guest
I think on labels they can round down, so when it says .9 grams or less than 1 gram, you should probably figure it like 1 gram to be safe. They just want it to look good on the label. Keep reading your labels! Val 209/186/130 8/23/

Guest guest
Ok I did some checking on this when the carb count says >1 carb The carb count is between .5 and .9 if it says 0 carbs it is below .5 that is the way the nutrion value guidlines read for them to say one way or another. --- CoalCall@... wrote: > I think on labels they can round down, so when it > says .9 grams or less than > 1 gram, you should probably figure it like 1 gram to > be safe. I think this is the correct way of figuring it. Guest guest
Thanks so much for clearing this up for me! I'm realizing now just how many hidden carbs there are. This explains why my first go around with Atkins wasn't as successful as I would have liked. Live and learn! I feel more equipped this time around, so here's to dropping those pounds! This list is the best!! Guest guest
Hi , Since you have a Publix available, look at the Gwatney's Bacon. It boasts Less Fat on the label but I think that is because it is center cut bacon. BUT, no sugar in the ingredient list. It comes in a green box. They also have Gwatney's Beef bacon in a blue box but that is NOT the one I am talking about. Good luck. Teri
Guest guest
Hi Teri, Thanks for the tip on the Gwatney's Bacon! I had that particular brand in my hand, but I put it back because i couldn't figure out if it was turkey bacon or real bacon!! Everything else looked great about the product, so if it's real bacon, I'm back at the store tomorrow to buy some. I'm an avid label reader (usually takes me hours to go through the grocery store!), and one thing I've learned since starting on this WOE is how much sugar and hydogenated fats (nasty stuff, stay away from it) are in foods we would never think of! I remember reading a few postings on this list about shopping the perimeter of the store and avoiding the aisles. I've been doing this for years, and I can attest that it really is the best way to shop since this is where all the healthier, unprocessed foods are located. Anyway, just my two cents! Hope everyone is having a good week so far!! Keep smiling and drinking your water!! P.
