Guest guest
Hi Vicki, I would guess that the fight or flight reflex kicked in and your liver released extra sugar. I usually have nightmares when my sugar is low. I guess my body is trying to tell me to do something so it makes a bad dream LOL Guess that's another example of how we all differ & that diabetes isn't a " one size fits all " thing. peace. Bush August 5, 2004 [alldiabeticinternational] Has anyone else experienced this? > Last night I had an unpleasant dream. I was being stalked by this guy. At one point he tried to harm me. It was not a fun dream at all. When I tested fasting this morning I was 152 and 148. I never test higher than 117 fasting. Last night I had my usual low carb dinner after going to the gym. All I can think of is the stress of the dream pushed my numbers up. Any thoughts? > > Vicki > >
Guest guest
Thanks, Don. That makes sense to me. I met someone online that is being a bit of a pain. That may be on my mind. How are you feeling? Vicki From: don roberts Vicki, This is Don roberts and yes I have had some dreams the same as you have and it is because deep in you mind you are thinking about it all the time even when you are awake. This can cause you sugars to go up and it may be a little or alot. I hope this will help you to some degree. Try to find some way to get off of your mind. Guest guest
Thanks, DJ. Everything you have said makes sense to me. It could be I had gone to low and my body dumped too much sugar early in the morning. I once in a while do have the Dawn phenomenon. I had forgotten about that until just now. Good point, Diabetes will never be a one size fits all.We are all so uniquely different. Guest guest
Jolene, My numbers are exactly the same as yours. I will try to check my levels one early morning and see what is happening. I have never gotten up to eat, but I do get up quite often for some water. My numbers return to the low 100's about two hours after breakfast and stay down for the most part. Guest guest
Gail, The easiest way to describe dawn phenomenon is when you get hungry over night and your body prevents you from going to low.. your body overcompensates and youre sugars are high in the morning. I get it all the time. The funny part was that my diabetic educator and my doctor both could not tell me why my sugars where higher in the morning than they were all day. I had to stop my doctor from doubling my meds once again by showing him what was going on. My suggestion is to set your alarm clock one morning and get up about 3:30am or 4am and check your Blood sugars.. if its low then you know!!! mine are usually in the 70's when i do this. when i get up they are in the 120's and 130's.. Check it out!! see what you come up with.. Jolene > What is the dawn phenomenon? > Gail > > >
