I'd have to agree with that.

Caton has been pretty bad lately, or at least last week when the tests

were done, so hopefully that will mean something. He's been having

absolute inconsolable fits, mostly in the mornings, and they seem to be

followed by his poops. I thought that perhaps the problem was in his

colon before, but it was just a hunch. Now I know that there is

*something* going on in there.

In the meantime I met with a developmental/behavioral nutritionist, who

recommended that we remove all grains and all dairy from his diet.

Since I've suspected these as problem foods in the past, that seemed

reasonable. She says he can have all fruits, veggies, and meats, but of

course, not all of them agree with him. So he's pretty much back on his

old mainstays, sweet potatoes, bananas, apples, peaches, and relatively

content about it.

I wonder if anyone else is concerned about autism developing in their

children? There is such a strong link between autistic kids having GI

problems digesting proteins, really it is not " alternative " thinking

anymore, it is pretty mainstream thinking. Since often autism doesn't

show up until age 3 or more, often it is too late, if the child has been

showing GI symptoms for awhile.

Since I see Caton reacting with behavioral symptoms to his GI problems,

I am obviously concerned about his food intake triggering autism. Of

course, whether it is true autism or not is open to debate, some would

say that it is a GI problem that gives off autistic-like symptoms, not

true autism, but if the behaviors are the same, does it really matter

what caused it? Of course, you can treat diet-related autism. So

basically I feel we are in an autism-prevention mode, while attempting

to treat his GI problems.

Not yet. Maybe later today or tomorrow.
