Guest guest
Hi Bud, A great source for information on Diabetes is http://www.joslinresearch.org/homedir/home.htm it is the Joslin Research center in Boston. Many times manufactures have free meters with the purchase of strips. Go to any web site for the meters and I am sure you will find what you are looking for. The only way to know what and how much you can eat is by eating something and then testing to see how much your numbers rise 2 hours after eating. Continue to ask questions and you will be fine. There are a lot of great members here. Vicki From: Budd : N7EOJ Thanks to our profit driven health care system, I have learned more in the week I've subscribed to this list than since learning I'm diabetic. On learning my medical coverage was cancelled when laid off work, my doctor of 12 years won't see or even talk to me. Friends helped me get a glucose meter and strips. (Are there any discount services for supplies like strips that don't " only supply through medical insurance payment " ?) I cannot find any diabetic classes for less than $75/hr. If it weren't for diabetic friends, the library and Internet I would still be wondering what I can do.
