If you are well enough to test > No, the advise was to call an ambulance if Im under 50, and treat myself for the hypo, I can always call an cancel the ambulance, but if I pass out trying to treat a hypo at least that way Im found , these were instructions for when Im home alone with my son, not when my husband is here too. And because I have hypo unawarness, Im a new diabetic (type 1) and my sugars seem to drop quickly. However I hope the later will even out with time, they say for awhile after getting type one the pancreas still tries to put out a little insulin thus a quick hypo. Guest guest
I think you're on the right track and if you accept the insulin, syringes, hypos, etc. as just a part of " the way life is, " so will your kids. I have been T1 since midway through my pregnancy in 1979 so my daughter has always lived around/with the T1 situation and seeing me give myself shots, tests, deal with hypos, etc. She was taught, very early on, re: dialing 9-1-1 but, thankfully, never had to. One of our sorta funny family memories is the household Supreme Rule to " never eat the LAST candy bar " (as it might be needed for a hypo in the middle of the night, etc.). Sandy T1 - 1979 > > How old is your son? >Only 2 years old. > >< shots for the rest of my life if I do not get on a insulin pump. I know that >some would never think of doing this but it really helps kids to deal with >what >is going on.
Guest guest
Hi, , what a wonderful parent you are... that is marvelous that you will share with your children what is going on with you... to many people will try and hide it from the kids...and that isn't right, they need to learn all that they can.. and a excellent idea for helping the little one with his math..lol..
