Guest guest
Group, I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can help me with. Do any of you think that drinking one of the elemental formulas orally might possibly counteract the severe pain of an EG attack. Some one had said that one of them didn't taste bad. I know it is on the Archives but can't concentrate very well right now. When I have gotten to this point in the past they have put me in the hospital on IV's to rest the GI tract. I would like to avoid that if at all possible. Also has anyone heard of Paprika being an allergen? We went out to dinner and I had Halibut, which has always been safe as well as everything else I ate. However there was paprika on the fish. Looking back I am wondering if that has been the major trigger for these severe attacks. Any suggestions? Thanks for any help you can give JUDY (ADULT GE)
Guest guest
Paprika is just dehydrated, powdered red bell pepper (or hungarian sweet pepper), so if you have trouble when you eat peppers, then it is likely the paprika could also cause trouble. It is possible to be allergic to seasonings/herbs/spices - I'm highly allergic to cumin, for example. -Joy
Guest guest
Thank you Joy, I have never had a problem with peppers to my knowledge. Was hoping I had found the answer. Still trying to find a way to stop this pain. Pain meds help but are doing nothing to stop the reaction. Am hoping to find something to suggest to the doctor. They always end up sticking me in the surgery unit and looking for something. Wouldn't be so bad if the nurses knew how to do IVs and blood draws. I plan to call tomorrow, so if anyone has any ideas I would really appreciate it.
