Hi everybody, can we take this one step further and ask what kind? (mine is

a patch on the back on my neck thatappears slightly darker than my light skin

and feels kind of velvety. I have tried to sand it off with an pumice stone,

my dr threw a fit! It hurts when my chain touches it.)

How is it treated, if at all? (mine is handles well, with just 100mg's of

elavil (amytriptaline) This medication taken at a higher dose is an

antidepressant, but at a low dose is quite affective for this type of

neuropathy)

Anybody have other kinds? Hugs, Marilyn

Joe, I have the same problem in my left arm. Let me know if lifting weights

helps. I do strength training at the gym 3 times a week. I hope this will help

too.

Vicki

From: Joe (out of Europe)

Ever since I was diagnosed with diabetes, there's a continuing pain in my

right bicep; it just won't go away. I suppose this could be rheumatism or

even arthritis. Upon reading one of Marilyn's posts about muscle degeneration,

I started lifting weights. OK, nothing fancy (like in a gym) but an old 10 lb.

granite (Swiss Alps) ashtray I had lying around. In the morning, I lift it

above

my head 20 times (using both arms alternatively). Maybe this will do the trick

in the longterm?

Hi Vicki, may I ask how you treated it, how long you had it and what you

think made it go away? Maybe between us, we can figure out a few things!

Thanks,

Marilyn

Hi Marilyn,

My Dr. sent me to a podiatrist for an injection in my foot. Yikes, did that

puppy hurt! He said you will feel a slight pinching. Yeah, right. None the less,

between that and keeping better control of my BG levels it has gone away. He did

say it often comes back again. Just another reason to keep tighter control of my

numbers.

Very good point, Jamez. Having someone be honest with me is the most important

thing. I hope you are feeling better now. I have a question for the group. What

does everyone consider good numbers? Fasting and after meals? I have spoken with

other Diabetics that have all kinds of information from their Dr. Really all

over the board.

Vicki

From: james sanborn

They lie-lie-lie!! It's never a little pinch. Wish

they would just say:

" This is really going to hurt " I might have more faith

in them if I knew they were going to tell me the

truth.

Hi everyone. Glad I got that off my chest. Gotta vent

once in a while. I ate about an hour ago and my sugars

are not being kind right now.

i really wonder about this too. my targets are 90-130 pre-prandial,

130 to 180 post-prandial, a1c's less than 7. seems kind of high to

me, although i think they're set that way because of not wanting to

go into the low danger zone. but to achieve an a1c of less than 7 -

by my calculations, one has to stay below 145 mg/dl (8 mmol/l)...

Hi Vicky, I am assuming it was an anitbiotic you received. Hope it does the

trick! I hate dishonesty! He should have said " hold on, I'll be as quick as

possible " or anything, but a lie! Hugs, Marilyn
