Two things bother me a lot about this disease: One, doctors don't tell

patients how to eat, mine didn't. I learned from these lists. They tell

them that

sugars up to 200 are OK and they are not. Why shouldn't a diabetic's sugar

run as close to normal as a non diabetic?

I am assuming then that doctors have a whole different theory on type 1 and

type 2. Our Diabetes nurse and the child endo agreed that our target for

Donnie is 100-150 at all checks and 150-180 at bedtime check. If he goes over

those at all we have to call in to re-evaluate his insulin vs carbs.

He has been well within those numbers so we have good control with a average

of about 110-115. :-D

YES there are some things that are a whole world of difference. Type ones

have more of a tendency to get lows, esepecialy at night. I have been told to be

120 -150 at betime. I do and there are still mronings I wake up at 65 ! The

biggest difference being type ones dont make insulin but we still use insulin

well. Where as a lot of type two's are insulin resistant meaning they dont

utilize insulin well enough. children with DIABETES - What is Type 1 Diabetes?

I miscalculated that.. I was told 4-5 blocks of 15 carbs so that would

actually be 60-75! WOW I dont think I eat quiet that many a meal! Ive been doing

more like 50. Its too late in the day for me to do math!!
