Equal contains aspartame.

Aspartame metabolises to methanol which then converts to formaldehyde.

When the new Coke came out with aspartame in it, I switched and drank

1-4 cans a day. Almost immediately I started having the same

symptoms reported by the majority of aspartame consumers.

After many doctor visits resulting in shrugged shoulders, a friend

with a PhD. in nutrition asked if I had been drinking the new Coke.

When I confessed, was told STOP! Within days my backaches,

headaches, tension, and upset stomach all ceased. Since then, my

body reacts within minutes if I consume something containing

aspartame. I recognize the feelings. Everytime that happens, I

backtrack. Invariably I find I have unknowingly consumed aspartame.

Independent research on Aspartame.

Splenda is sucralose, produced by modifying sugar to a non-

metabolised sweetener. Sucralose passes through the body unchanged.

http://www.splenda.com/page.jhtml?id=splenda/products/faq.inc#q2

Over 100 studies over the past 20 years have not identified any

negative side effects from sucralose consumption.

That is why I CANNOT use Equal or any aspartame containing products.

After researching Splenda have determined it safe to use.
