Hello and welcome to our group!

I am by no means a doctor or medical professional, but the first

question that came to my mind is whether anyone took an xray of the

area in question? While first reading, it did sound like it could be

an infection and you mentioned getting penicillin, but you are still

experiencing a problem. Since it's something that you haven't had

your whole life and has somehow evolved through time and hasn't been

fully healed/resolved with the antiobiotic, I would press further for

a doctor to look again. Believe me, I'm not advocating one xray more

than anyone needs, but if a problem doesn't resolve itself with prior

treatment, a doctor might recommend a scan to help diagnose what's

going on. It's your job to get back to the doctor and tell her

something is still not feeling right, and let her proceed from

there.

Best of luck!

Irish!

Welcome to the group. In reading your post, this really doesn't sound like TMJ

to me, but I could be wrong. You said that you were on an anitbiotic for ten

days...are the ten days up or are you still taking it? Have you finished the

medication as prescribed? If so, I would return to the doctor and tell her

exactly what you're telling us. Make sure to point out the area of concern and

ask any and every question you can think of. If may very well be just an

infection which is causing swelling in the jaw. This swelling can easily look

like an abnormality.

I pray that this is all it is, but it will be in you best interest for you to

find out exactly...and the sooner, the better. Hope this helps.

I dont know if this is the group to ask this question to.. but i am

going to try. If anyone can help, please respond. I have this

problem with my lower right jaw. Ok, the back part of it near my

neck is larger than the left side. The bone actually seems to dip

lower than the other side. I have not had this problem all my life,

either. I recently noticed it when I had a problem with a tooth

getting pretty bad. I was put onto antibiotics, Penicillin VK

500mg, for 7 days at 4 doses a day. I then went to have the tooth

extracted. After the tooth was gone, I still noticed the

abnormality on my right jaw. So I went to a doctor to have it

checked out, and she prescribed the same medicine, only at a smaller

amount per day but for 10 days. Could there be something that

people are missing here? Because the jaw seems to be protruding out

more than it was before I had the tooth extracted. I looked up

something on the internet called TMJ, which sounded like symptoms I

was experiencing before the tooth was removed, such as pain in the

lower jaw on the side of the tooth and slight earaches in that ear.

But after the tooth was extracted, most of that pain went away.

There is a small dull pain in the lower right jaw now where it is

larger, and it is still somewhat tender to the touch, not as much as

it was before the extraction. Any help is appreciated.

Tony Mate,

I am currently on Lantus, along with Humalog 75/25.

Lantus is great, have not experienced any problems with it. The hardest

thing was learning how to hold the Lantus vial and syringe.

You Doc will probably start you out on a low dosage of it first.

Hello everyone,

I am new to this group and thought I should introduce myself. My

name is Tony and I live near Oxford in the UK. A few months ago I

had a very bad attack of pancreatitis, which has left me with

diabetes, I am finding it very difficult to get my blood sugars to

an acceptable level they are way too high at the moment.

My Doctor has now decided to try me on a new insulin called Lantus

to try and sort the problem out, has anyone had any experience with

this insulin?

I would be very grateful for any comments

Regards

Tony

Yes, it has to do with diabetes and it is VERY important you seek medical

assistance for it ASAP. Sometimes a cut for a diabetic, especially in the foot,

can get so bad that the foot/leg has to be amputated. I would make an

appointment with your doctor, or ideally a podiatrist (foot doctor) very soon.

Faith,

I still have a scar on my foot from an IV I had in March. The Scar

is a 1/2 inch in diameter. The Doctors gave me a special cream for

it when it was healing. (I never thought is was going to heal at

all) Good luck with your cut, but make sure you see your doctor.

I did the same thing when I had some places on my face

removed (skin cancer). I used the antibiotics the dr

sent home with me the first day. Gave it until the

next morning. The area was still red and the place

didn't look that hot. I cleaned them off with

peroxide and starting putting bag balm on them. I

know they healed faster because the dr told me when

they should be healed up. I was at least a couple

days ahead of schedule.

Bag balm does have some very good antibiotics in it

and I can't say enough good things about it. It has

been used for all kinds of cuts and even an ingrown

toenail that got infected.

Think about it. This was first used to heal sores

from all kinds of causes on a cow's teats. The name

of the game was to milk the cow and sell the milk.

They couldn't afford to have a cow out of commission

or one they couldn't milk. It worked so well for the

cows, the farmers and dairy people started using it.

The rest is history.

If anyone doesn't have some in your house, make sure

you get it. It should be part of every first aid kit.

Also at the feed stores is another ointment called Corona. its in a yellow

and red tube or tub. It much tackier, sticker than bag balm. Bag balm has a

texture like petroleum jelly, corona is much stickier. Both work very well, I

would say its personal preferance. ive had horses for years and have used these

on

my horses many times. I would second the peroxide treatments
