Guest guest
Apples and juice even diluted to 1:4 parts water will give me terrible tummy pains. The last time i ate an apple it hurt so bad I didn't eat for 8 days. I wish I could help but all I know is from my own experience it could be the apple juice giving her fits. How old is ? Would she understand what being dehydrated means and being in the hospital stuck to more tubes and needles is like? I'm keeping you in my thoughts. Guest guest
How long has it been since she has had no liquid? The apple juice can give stomach cramps and it can last a long time. I tried it on Spencer once. Even if they aren't allergic to it you can still get cramps, belly pain. Guest guest
Hi All, I really need some advice from you all. is sick. She has a bad cold, but she also is having a great deal of stomach pain. We tried, unsuccessfully, to give her some apple juice and some corn last week. Since then she has been having major belly pain. She hasn't had any food for about 4 days now. My question concerns her Vivonex. She is totally refusing it (she's also refusing Pedialyte). She has a g-tube, so I could force it issue and feed her anyway. is VERY strong willed and it would be a major fight. I hate to do that because there is obviously a reason why she doesn't want to eat. On the other hand, I don't want her to become dehydrated. Any advice? Guest guest
Do you normally give her apple juice and corn. Just wondering because most dieticians have told us those 2 foods are really good natural laxatives even for people without tummy problems.. Guest guest
Hi Sherry, Miriam was constantly complaining about stomach pains and fighting feedings. I tried one can of elecare from Phyllis that she sent me and she for those 2 days felt much better without pain and didn't fight the feeds. I am now trying to find people coming to Israel to carry elecare for me because they don't have it here and the insurance doesn't cover it. It was a very hard decision to make about switching her b/c I have an 8 month supply of vivanex that was brought in and donated to her and now she is not using it at all. Miriam has now been on the elecare for a week and she doesn't complain anymore about her stomach hurting and fight her feeds. I also notice that she stopped bloating up alot which she was doing with the vivanex. If there is anyway to get a hold of a couple of cans and try it out it might be worth it to get an idea if it is the vivanex or not. Our doctors didn't believe me that it could be the vivanex but we all see now. Good Luck Shana (mom to Miriam 4 1/2 (3 days older than AJ)Severe Multiple food allergies possible EG NG tube waiting for the doctors to finally decide to do the g-tube , Yisroel 2 1/2 severe multiple food allergies ,allergic to all antibiotics, possible reflux waiting for doctors to take an interest in figuring him out.Tehilla 8 ADHD) [eosinophilic gastroenteritis] I need advice - problem with > Hi All, > > I really need some advice from you all. is sick. He has now been on the Elecare for almost a year. No as much tummy pain - although he is eating some by mouth - but still a major struggle here to gain weight. Guest guest
< > Hi everyone -- Just had to join in on this and let you know what has been happening with . I've been meaning to write this for a couple of weeks but things have been just SO incredibly busy and with needing all the endoscopy work we have had to have and life has just been too hectic. However, here's a brief summary of what has been happening for her that is working and I just wanted to share our newest interesting approach. The drs. still won't come out and diagnosis with EG. HOWEVER, I have convinced them to try the same medication routine as what has helped with the son of a friend I have made here in town. His mother and I have met through a mutual friend who thought that both her son Nick and sounded so similar in their eating problems. Come to find out that Nick was finally diagnosed with EG about a year and a half ago. He's dealt with the symptoms all of his life and he is now 13. Anyway, the new med (Bromfed) is helping . Nick is now able to eat almost anything that he wants. I have been able to add wheat, corn and some dairy back into 's diet. We've also let her have tomato and so far so good. The other thing that we have been doing to help wean off of Neocate (which has been her primary source of nutrition for over a year) is using a new product that just came on the market. The product is called Quintessence T and it is an essential amino acid supplement. It is unflavored and there are a variety of flavor granules that you can pick from to flavor the substance with. Or you can just mix it straight into juice and it will not change the flavor (at least with the juices we have tried) We have been VERY exicited about this product because of 's limited intake of proteins and the food choices that she will eat. The powder can be mixed to be very thin or thicker for a pudding like consistency. It can be mixed into juice or sprinkled on top of fruits. It is COMPLETELY flavorless and that's the most wonderful thing about it. It does not change the flavor of foods you put it on. It basically just replaces the amino acides she gets in the Neocate formula (minus the vitamins) and yet supplies her with the essential amino acids that she needs. If any of you want more information on the product I'd be happy to send it to you. I am not a distributor or a rep for the product at all. In fact was chosen to participate in the clinical trials of the product before it was released for general sales. The product was developed for kidney patients who are on dialysis under the direction and leadership of several researchers and physicians. From just my own personal observations it looks like something that could replace some of these HORRIBLE tasting elemental formulas that we all try to get our kids to drink. But that is just my opinion only. Each and every situation is different and we definitely need to consult with our own drs. before changing or adding anything. I just thought I'd let you guys know what's working for us and I'll keep you posted on her progress. We're still a long ways away from having her completely weaned off of tube feedings but if I can get more confident that she'll continue using this new product and I can get her daily required needs met I think we'll be well on our way to weaning her off of the tube ). Here's hoping everyone is having a great day! Take care.
