Type 2 diabetic

From reading postings, I am confused and have some serious questions:

Does a Type 2 diabetic always get worse and have to go on insulin?

Does a Type 2 diabetic end up on insulin in later years?

Can a Type 2 diabetic as they grow older become less dependent on

meds and insulin if they follow the normal diabetic rules?

I agree with you about eschewing sugar; however, there is another point

of view. The ADA says that diabetics may have *small* amounts of sugar.

I'm not paranoid about relatively small amounts that one may

indicentally ingest, but I don't drink non-diet sodas, tea with

sugar/honey, sweet pastries, candy, confections, and the like.

I've been treating my diabetes using dietary measures and exercise since

being diagnosed 4 months ago. What I've learned is that you have to be

very

strict about what you eat. Sugar, in all forms must not be ingested. You

have to exercise every day (walking, swimming, jogging, weight-lifting;

anything that will bring up a sweat) and, above all, you must try to

stay

happy! Discipline is a major factor here.

there is truth to it, the hospital doctor, the CDE and my doctor ALL said it

was a progressive disease but the most important thing was to keep my numbers

down

Same here, I avoid sugar like the plague. I occasionaly have had something

with sugar (once since may 25th) or have had to use sugar for a hypo, but every

other time I treat sugar like Im allergic to it.

What you attribute to me, I did not write.
