Hey Carm, you go girl! LOL Yes, with kids as well as a husband at home,

there are still meals to prepare and for goodness sake, if my honey wants a

chocolate cake, he's going to get one! (He'll go buy it if I don't make it!

LOL)

We all just need to consider moderation, right? Hugs, Marilyn

Hey, Marilyn... my hubby is a 270 pound walking sweet tooth... he loves his

sweets...and of course, I try to keep him a little something here.. and try to

stay out of it for the most part myself... or at least limit my intake...the

Church that I attend when we have our Women's meetings, we have refreshments...

guess what those are? Right Chocolate of many kinds...and other assorted

desserts.. I keep telling hubby that it ain't fair, here he is the sweet tooth

of the family, and I am the diabetic..rofl.. but oh, well, at least with me the

maintaining a semi-good eating pattern, is a lot easier by the fact that I don't

indulge in sweets that often.. I believe should he ever become diabetic, it

would kill him...although since I was diagnosed he has cut back some..

Good to see you here on this group...

can we start a new thread, has anyone ever noted how stress effects your blood

sugars? about 4 months ago, my readings were all out of control and yet I had

not changed my eating patterns...ended up on three medications, have since

knocked it back to none, and then just a week ago when hubby got his butt fired

again for the 2 time in 8 months, the sugar has started going up again..so once

again, I am taking Actos in the morning (15mg) and might have to go back up to

30mg and or kick in a glucophage or glipazide.. I try not to stress about things

when at all possible, but am finding it hard not too, when i know that the light

at the end of the tunnel is a train, and my hubby is the engineer...rofl..

I was in a similar situation with my Lodge. The refreshments were so

high in sugars and starches that I and the other diabetics brothers

often couldn't find enough to eat. A group of us went to the Stewards

and explained our concerns, and adjustments were made. Have you spoken

to someone on the Refreshments Committee?

It will be interesting to see how others handle stress. I mean the BIG stuff

as well as everyday life. ROFL, Love, Marilyn

In these types of situations, I just say, " Yummy, " and take some more

insulin. Blood sugars are fine afterwards.

Those of us who are attempting to control our diabetes by diet haven't

that luxury.

Those of us on insulin don't have the luxury of controlling our diabetes

by diet.

Your right there Bruce, up to about 8 months ago, that is how I controlled mine,

and then I kept getting unexpected highs without doing anything different in my

eating... haven't had enough time yet, to decide if it is stress that is messing

with me so bad...

I read the comment--- " I just say yummy, and I just take more insulin--blood

sugars are fine " . This statement makes me scream every time I hear it. A lot of

insulin dependant T1 and T2 diabetics do this....It is succumbing to the

disease....it is admitting defeat....And don't come to me later and complain

about getting fat. The effective purpose of insulin in the body is to provide

the key to the cells to accept for storage and later use of fat producing

glucose. The additional insulin taken to counter the increase in

sugar/carbohydrates is just like saying " let's get fat " ......
