Hi Adolfo, Yes, I know how you felt. I have spoken with many young people

who felt the same. As I am 58, (found out 4 years ago) I was a little less

stressed than you I guess. It is not fun for any of us, but we are so much

better

off than those who had this 20 years ago. My grandma had it, and had to give

up just about everything she enjoyed because she had no way to test and see

what reacted badly with her. I am type 2, which are you? I think this makes a

difference, also. I felt a certain responsibility for this, because after

Don (dh) broke his back in 1985, life came to a screaching halt. No more of the

activities we had enjoyed before, and his deprssion made him eat to feel

better, and being the " good wife " I cooked everything he loved. I gained, took

off a lot, then regained some of that! Not too smart here, obviously! LOL I do

keep my A1c down and try to be very careful with carbs. I seem to handle 45

carbs without much trouble. I do test 4-6 times a day and know what bothers me

and what I can get away with. Take care, hugs, Marilyn Where are you in

this fine world? I am in California. ;-)

Hi, Bruce, just two things to think about, perhaps the person doesn't know

that caps are considered shouting in cyber land, and second, perhaps the

person in question has trouble with their eye sight... I had a wonderful

lady that was my best friend, I lost her back in October...because of the

varies illness she suffered from, she could not see, even with a magnifying

screen in front of her computer screen, ALL CAPS were fine with me... I just

wanted to hear from her...

Bruce, I am sure you meant to say " Adolfo, in computer etiquette, caps is

compared to shouting, right? " He is a nice young man and is interested in

learning about his diabetes as we all are and we don't wish to discourage him,

right? Hugs, Marilyn

Also sometimes differences in fonts on computers can make emails come across

as all caps.

WOW your rather young like me. Im only 25 and was diagnosed in May 2004. Im

still very freaked out about the feeling that now this will keep me from living

a long life, but I try to keep 2 thoughts in mind 1) there are plenty of

diabetics who have lived with this 50 years etc 2) there are young people who

die

in car wrecks or from cancer, so life is not guarentteed!

Best of luck with everything!

Great outlook and good rationale.

I became T1 at age 29 and am about to turn 54. Diabetes hasn't kept me from

doing much. You will have to live with diabetes all your life but diabetes

doesn't need to *be* your whole life. I think there are a few on this list

who have been T1 for 35-50 years. They may not have gotten there unscathed

but then, how many truly get from 25 to 65 or older with no " scathing " of

one kind or another? ;-)
