Do you guys know if it would o.k. to take a " B " vitamin in addition to a

multivitamin?

I've been taking One-A-Day vitamins for years. Since my mom died & her mom &

brother died of diseases of the " nervous " system, I'd REALLY like to take a B

vitamin.

I talked to the pharmacist this evening about taking a B vitamin. He said not

to because the multivitamin has enough. I didn't explain to him why I wanted

to take it

(to help the " nervous " system) I really think I should get that extra boost.

, since your studying medicine your input would be greatly appreciated.

How harmful could it be?? Guys? any idea? Your opinions? Anyone out there

take anything else in addition to there multivitamin??

I do know that too much of a good thing can be bad. I'd follow your

pharmacists directions. You don't want to cause other problems while trying

to prevent others.

extra B-complex and C will just go out in urine---A is toxic if too

high--also minerals if too high can cause problems --- minerals need to be

in a proper ratio with each other--

Dear Kristi, Genetic Cjd runs in my family too, and the one extra vitamin I

take is 400 units of E. It does so many good things for the body and brain

they are just begining to find out, and it's hard to get enough in your

diet. My DR. said to stick with the 400 mg. as its enough to do some good,

but not enough to do harm. Hope this has been of some help. Nancie

It is my (un)professional opinion that you can take more B if you want to. B

vitamins are (generally) 'cofactors' that make enzymes work. Enzymes make

reactions proceed much faster. Enzymes build things in the body and break

down things. Some enzymes need a special tool to do what they do, and most B

vitamins are these tools.

My pharmacist was always more concerned about me wasting money, and often

told me I didn't need something, when he should have said, " If it will make

you feel better, it won't hurt you, so go ahead. "

Don't Megadose on any vitamin, though, unless a physician tells you to.
