Every patient and every doctor a little different , but Ive heard fasting (premeal) should be 70-120 and i forgot what the bedtime was, Im 120-150, like Im supposed to be above 120 cause im type one and tend to get hypo at night. You have to work with your doctors and diabetic specialists and diabetic dieticians to come up with a plan that works for you. What works for me may not work for you. Also depends on how well trained your doctor is in diabetic therapy and treatments. I've had two doctors who specialized in diabetes and kept on top of training, pharmaceuticals, exercise regimens, nutritional plans, etc... I've also had another doctor who had no special training in diabetes, just regular education and he would work with my other doctor at that time who specialized in it. Both were general practitioners, just that one studied on his own to specialize in diabetes. Ask your doctor how much education he/she has in diabetes or if he/she specializes in diabetes. How many times have you met with your diabetic dietician? That is important to determine what you can eat, how much, come up with a nutritional plan and an exercise regimen that helps you out. Also the doctor told me to call her and go to the hospital if it gets to 300 and above that its dangerous. fran I've been wondering what numbers the MD would consider stable enough with the med selection and how long the meds will take to work effectively.
