I would say a little (within reason) of that is true. Every patient and every

doctor a little different , but Ive heard fasting (premeal) should be 70-120

and i forgot what the bedtime was, Im 120-150, like Im supposed to be above

120 cause im type one and tend to get hypo at night. Do you have a diabetes

educator you can meet with? Or does your doc answer questions if you call?

Everyone is unique. You have to work with your doctors and diabetic

specialists and diabetic dieticians to come up with a plan

that works for you. What works for me may not work for you. Also depends on

how well trained your doctor is in diabetic therapy

and treatments. I've had two doctors who specialized in diabetes and kept on

top of training, pharmaceuticals, exercise regimens,

nutritional plans, etc... I've also had another doctor who had no special

training in diabetes, just regular education and he would

work with my other doctor at that time who specialized in it. Both were

general practitioners, just that one studied on his own

to specialize in diabetes. Ask your doctor how much education he/she has in

diabetes or if he/she specializes in diabetes.

How many times have you met with your diabetic dietician? That is

important to determine what you can eat, how much,

come up with a nutritional plan and an exercise regimen that helps you out.

Subject: [alldiabeticinternational] where is stabilized?

Hi there,

I've been wondering what numbers the MD would consider stable enough

with the med selection and how long the meds will take to work

effectively.

I've been in the 300-400s and don't see my MD until Aug. 3. I see the

diabetes nurse on Wednesday. I've been increasing my meds on my own

according to safe levels, as I really don't want to wait weeks before

increase in meds, taking longer for getting in a healthier range.

There has been some improvement into the high 200s to 300s.

i'm just trying to figure out what to expect and wonder if others

have experienced an approx acceptable level, or if every MD and every

patient is different.

thanks

Mara

Mine started droping within hours of taking my meds. Also the doctor told me

to call her and go to the hospital if it gets to 300 and above that its

dangerous. fran

With readings like this, you should be in touch with diabetes nurse and making

adjustments according to their instructions...

It may be differnt since she is so young, but I was told to call the doctor

and go to the ER if I get to 300. BUT I was DKA and in a coma in may so they

may be extra cautious too??
