So when I ran out of test strips and went back to the pharmacy they said it would be like 75.00 dollars....I about choked....needless to say I did without until I could get back to see the doc. Question. Does the insurance cover the strips? If they do, have the doctor write for 5 tests a DAY, 35 a week, 140 a month or if you do mail away, 3 months 520 you get the drift. I order 800 strips at a time, as this is what my dr writes for. They last several months, and a month before I need them, I send (mail order) for another 800. I think it is $15 for them. I guess that is such a good price because of the way they gouge me for meds. My husbands meds including his pain pump meds are around $3500 a month, so I am not going to complain about mine I guess. Guest guest
Actually I was surprised as I do have a deductible on everything else. Guest guest
I continue to work my way back thru emails....For those of us who don't know because we are covered---I am amazed at the cost of Diabetes supplies....Makes me very thankful that I only pay a nominal co-pay for my meds and nothing for testing/strips/meters/lancets/needles/syringes or insulin---ROLF Re: [alldiabeticinternational] insurance / test strips In a message dated 7/16/2004 8:09:51 PM Pacific Standard Time, lrk1246@... writes: Mine covers all of my supplies with no deductible. Guest guest
If your insurance company will not pay for the strips, remember to save your reciepts as the cost may well be deductable as a medical expense from your income tax. Guest guest
Yup for most exept Tru-track from most pharmacy-type places (Longs,, walgreens, rite aide) is like a dollar a strip. Trutrack is half that. Just havent' decided if I want to do it or not. -- " Thunder is good, thunder is impressive; but it is lightning that does the work.
