Guest guest
After reading a post here, I decided to see if the alcohol wipes I was using each and every time I tested had any affect on my BS reading. I was so surprised to note that just with clean washed hands, the number was considerably lower than with the wipes. I tried this several times during the day and it never varied. If I wait a few minutes to let the alcohol dry, the numbers came back down. The difference was in the range of 25 points. Not huge, but I think statistically significant. Thanks! Guest guest
Thanks for the information on the wipes, Gail. A friend of mine always uses the wipes before testing. I will tell him about this. 25 points seems quite large to me as a difference. Guest guest
My insurance pays for strips , lancets, alcohol wipes AND it paid for my meter. Please, let's not use this area for a jumping off point on politics... I think we can all agree that the present health care system in the United States is terrible and that both parties are responsible and can improve it. If we would start thinking as Americans instead of democrats and republicans, we could probably get something wonderful to happen. I get angry at statements putting blame on our current situation on any one individual. We have a system of senators and congressmen that are supposed to represent us..... if you want the system changed, and I think we all agree on that.... pressure the people in congress to change it! Guest guest
And WHY do insurance companies pay for the meter and the lancets but don't cover the cost of test strips? Guest guest
We in the United States are blessed in many ways but not in our medical system. Many older people have to choose between having enough good healthy food to eat or buying their medicine. I have good insurance but still have to pay a lot out for medicine and the insurance pays for less and less as time goes on. Lota
Guest guest
I seem to have an odd sensitivity to anything with isopropyl alcohol. I start coughing violently. Has anyone else experienced this? Rygel
