Guest guest
Dawn, iel is potty trained. His gastro symptoms are much milder than the esophagitis. Mostly it hurt and scared him to have bms for a while, but his control is OK. You know you could probably force the issue with any preschool due to ADA, but bottom line is that if they are forced into it, it's probably not the best situation for BJ. Most special needs preschools in our area have typically developing children integrated into the class. The problem is that BJ may not be considered " typical " either, but it sounds like he would be a good developmental model for the other kids, which may make them want to take him. I work in this area and some of the teachers/classes are fabulous for any child, special needs or not. Many of the " special " kids are very bright, but have orthopedic or medical handicaps. You might want to observe just in case, like you have any spare time now! iel had a weird reaction the other day. It looked like an acute food reaction, severe but short of anaphylaxis, but he hadn't eaten (other than tube feeding), all day. It happened as he was leaving preschool. I hate not being able to figure it out! He was swollen around his tube for 2 days. , who do you see for gastro in Cincinatti? Our Columbus guy is leaving and is the only one in the department who has taken an interest in learning about this diagnosis or has even seen it before.
