What does " doing carbs " mean, Marilyn, and what does " top of the amount " mean? Hi , what this means is it was close to the amount of carbs a diabetic in normal eating pattern (not restricted weight loss pattern) is allowed to eat for one meal. Sometimes, with some meals, it is easy to have some now, then wait an hoour or two and have the rest of your portion. This causes less of a spike in BG's. A diabetic is really not just sugar restricted as so many people think. It is a carb thing, and carbs are necessary for a healthy brain and body. We need to eat in moderation, but healthy. Mt dietician said to use carbs as the building blocks for meals, filling the rest with plenty of fresh veggies some fruits and grains. I use low glycemic grains, and mostly red vinegar on salads. So by watching the carbs amounts, I can pretty much tell what a meal is going to do to me. Hugs, M Marilyn Moderator for Diabetic_Recipes dnevessr@...
