When I was growing up, we NEVER had store-bread; my father baked. He made a honey whole wheat that was the best sandwich bread! Of course, we can't eat things like that now. Does anybody remember the peanut butter mixed with honey with one piece of white bread and one piece of wheat that the schools used to serve? I loved it. :-) My girlfriends mom worked in the cafeteria and used to bring home the HUGE peanut butter cookies! MMM Marilyn Moderator for Diabetic_Recipes dnevessr@... Guest guest
I make a true banana sandwich...with less carbs. Slice the banana end wise, put peanut butter, I like the super chunk, on the cut face of the banana, then put the 2 halves together. Waala a banana sandwich. That beats a " low " carb hamburger by using a lettuce leaf instead of bread.
