Guest guest
hi laura! you are such a good parent! it's so great you are doing presentations in schools. our schools really need that kind of help and involvement. kids need it. my dad is just like your husband. my dad needs to lose weight, but he won't do anything that looks like a *program*. he let me, though, calculate his nutritional needs and translate it into choices - you know like small apple or a piece of bread...that is let me do that and tell him about it...lol! here's a hoot for you about *the sticking*. i had no problem sticking the needle in...but i was rather worried about eating snacks and having *too many holes*. everyone just laughed at me. the one thing i've learned is that for the b.g. testing and insulin shots...it's not like having blood drawn. you only go into subcutaneous fat for the shots, for instance, and the needles are tiny. it's not like those hose pipes they jab into veins for blood. anyways, i believe those diagnostic numbers are the same for kids and adults. i've researched a bit and have never seen separate numbers, but i can't swear to it. does william take any medications for *sugar control* now? ok. blessings again rach > Hi Rach > Those were non fasting results for him. Yes na and are my grand children but I have had them since birth. They are great kids. Fun to have also they keep me on my toes. Thier mother dosnt know what great kids they are and what she is missing. Oh well her loss my gain. They see her maybe an hour and a half a day and sometimes they wont see her for weeks. na and know Iam thier grandmother but they say Iam more thier mom and call me grandmom. I havent missed a dr appt hospital stay school function or anything else. Iam active in the pta and I am now doing presintations on seizures and what to do and not to be afraid. This year I get to do it at the elemantry and jr.high. na starts Jr high and can hardly wait. > My husband is funny if I told him it was just good eating and watching the carbs and calories he would stick his nose in the air so Itold him it is a diabetic diet. We have been useing a lot of recipies that lin has posted. > Are those same fasting numbers the same for kids? has quite a few fasting I take it just before Iwake him in the am like this morning was 136 from 6am untill 11am > then it went down to 105. I checked 2 times to make sure I did it correct. Its so strange I can do it when hes asleep I tell him Iam going to poke him and he dosnt flish I would jump. But Iam a big baby when it comes to needles.Hes a brave boy for being only 7 1/2 he has gone through seizures and harsh meds its great to know his seizures could be from diabetis at least we can control that. > >

I recently made a few posts about peripheral nerve damage. You may wish to reread those. I am pretty sure if you don't do away with the pepsi (some sf is okay, not tons though) do more exercise, and take off a few pounds, you will be in his boat. I am so happy he is discovering that he can enjoy food while being a diabetic, and you can, too! We just need to TEST our blood, see WHERE the numbers are, get a A1c blood test (to see what your range has been the past 3 months). This is how we all begin. Denial is going to hurt you in the long run sweetie, lets see if we can avoid any permanent damage, okay? Hugs, marilyn Marilyn Moderator for Diabetic_Recipes dnevessr@...
