Guest guest
Hi eeryone Thank you for the invite. My name is Trish and I am 56 yrs young. I live in Elmira, NY (400 miles west of the city)I have been a diabetic going on 10 ys now and I just started on insulin. Lantus it is a 24 hr insulin and I can adjust it myself to what my BGs run over a 2 week period if they are high I add 4 units if they are low I decrease it by 4 units. The 1st dr I had (a GP) didn't seem to know to much about it and played around with me for yrs. trying this med and that med . One was a horse pill and I told him I couldn't swallow it and if I did it came back up. Well he seemed to shrug it off so I called an endo dr. she has me come in her office every 3 months for my Ac1 tests and I also have a dr that specializes in insulin and I go in every 2 weeks to se her. I finally got my morning BG's down into normal range. Before they were running anypalce in to 200's to high 300's I even had a reading one time of 500+ scared the dickens out of me. Glad that is over with. I still get tired in the afternoon especially after lunch. I don't eat big meals for lunch I may have a salad or a bagel (whole wheat)coffe and cottage cheese. I don't eat white breads nor have I even drank whole milk I was raised on skim (fat free) all my life to drink a glass of whole milk is like drinking a glass of cream!!! I still need help in this low carb thingy very confusing so any info you can post will help out. One thing I don't eat no matter what is steak--never have I don't like it I eat a lot of chicken, fish and turkey-- beef it has to be a roast beef for me to eat beef. Thanks again for the invite Trish
