Guest guest
Janie, I agree with you ! !!! This is OUR list that means everyone not a selected few. If you do not like someone e-mail delete it! This is a place for love and support not judgment and crucifixion. Now IM not pointing fingers, lets all stop flaming and get back to supporting. By the way Janie you are doing great!! Guest guest
Hi Janie, Wow, it's a little hard to believe that people flamed you like that for a technical problem that wasn't your fault (but then, it's all TOO wasy to believe). There ARE some crazy people on this list, for sure. I hope you're doing well and that we meet at the support group one of these days. Patience was not practiced on this one folks. >> Janie, First I'm glad you are staying and so sorry that you received those cruel posts. Second, thank you for those very wise words. Speaking from my own experience on this list, flame mail can hurt deeply. I misread someone's post right after died and responded out of raw emotion. It was not one of my best moments. The letter I received in response was the most hateful thing I've ever had addressed to me in my life. It cut me to my soul that someone on this list, someone who is fighting the same battle as I could have called me the names she did. Through prayer I got over it and realized that the friends I've made and the support of the rest of this group far outweighed one person's hate mail. Again, I'm glad you are staying and I'm also happy to hear that you are doing so well! Guest guest
Dear Janie, Thanks for the update. My husband was the first to notice your computers blank messages and he said " oh by the way there's a couple of messages for you on the computer. " What a wise guy......we laughed and then deleted ..no big deal. He's in computers and we knew that something wasn't right. I'm glad you are staying on the list. I have really enjoyed your posts. All the MGBers that know you were very quick to come to your defense and some of those that didn't lost their cool and have probably apologized by now. This has turned out to be a very valuable lesson to us all. Hope your computer is feeling better now. Keep in touch. Guest guest
Dear Lara, What a gracious apology. I know Janie appreciates it. You will find that we all get a bit " testy " at times and sometimes words that are typed don't give clues to their true " tone " cues like when you are speaking to someone personally. I think we have all been reminded of a valuable lesson. Rest assured you are welcome in this group and everyone here is more than willing to be a sounding board and supportive friend. All you have to do is ask....or as is the case with some of us, just post an e-mail and you'll get more " help " than you might have wanted....LOL Pam in NC Pre-Op Wt 318 @ 5 ft. 5 MGB Surg.= 1/4/99 Lowest Wt.= 143 10/99 Reversal of MGB= 10/24 Current Wt= 165-175, Holding healthy and happy
Guest guest
Hi Janie! Glad you got it straightened out. It was a royal interference and nuisance. You might consider, though, that when posting to this mailing list from the egroups' menu or even replying from a digest, your mailer doesn't sit there " blank, " automatically chugging out replies. You will see it sending. If you post from the egroups menu, it goes through a two step process, not just one, and shows you the outgoing message in draft and then requires another manual " send " before it goes out. Even set to " auto reply, " a mailer requires you to tell it to " send " (which means you must physically push the return key or put your cursor on " send " and click) for each of those messages to go out. With this in mind, it is hard to imagine someone sitting there being totally oblivious to sending out over 100 blank messages. It apparently is not impossible to be so totally clueless that you could do this more than 100 times, since that's what you said happened to you, but it is not going to be the first thing anybody thinks of when they see it clogging up a mail list, especially when there are trolls and people who do this sort of thing on purpose to be malicious. Even though you did this accidentally, it is perfectly normal for people to have presumed otherwise. Then for you to claim people aren't supporting you because they railed on you for it is a little far-fetched, when the intent of the " support " here is for surgery, not for the technologically challened (though people here will help you with that if you ask). You are sure to get support and help with your questions about the MGB, too. Anyway, that said, welcome to the list. Kind regards, ( " the Barbie Wannabe " ) email: lindat@... > > I just want to update my decision and add a few additional comments > regarding my computer glitch.
