Guest guest
Hey gang, For those of you that have done the Atkins Diet or are currently on it, I have a question. Did any of you suffer from headaches?? I am having borderline migraines and I need to know how to get rid of them. Any suggestions will be helpful. BTW where is everybody? I just got online and had no messages. Usually I have 80-150 a day. I hope everyone is enjoying this holiday weekend. Lara

Guest guest
Hi Lara~ I found that my headaches (both regular and migraines) were much better when I was doing Atkins. I'm pretty sure its the sugar that causes/contributes to them. I'm no longer doing Atkins (have never liked meat!), but when I keep the amount of sugar down, I do much better in the headache department. If you are getting headaches within the first week of starting Atkins, that seems to be normal...like detox headaches from sugar and caffeine, etc. Give a couple more days and you should be feeling better. Also make sure you are taking the vitamins he recommends. If you have anymore questions about Atkins, ask away. I lost over 50 pounds in 6 months, but I just have had it with meat and cant stomach much of it anymore. Needless to say, the weight is coming right back on. Guest guest
Trisha, Thanks for you input. I am trying to hang in. The hardest part is the fillers I miss. I love all the things I cannot have. What did you weigh when you started the Atkins diet? Thanks for your support and encouragement. Lara

Guest guest
Lara, I weighed 293...got down to 239, but now I'm back up to over 270 (afraid to look, you know?). I tried Atkins because I was fed up and thought there was no way my insurance would approve the surgery (I was looking at the BTC--an open RNY--at the time). But now, after yet another failed diet attempt, I am ready to fight the insurance b/c I'm scared silly of growing bigger and my health deteriorating. But I'm glad I didn't do WLS last year...I didn't know about the MGB or Dr Rutledge then. Are the headaches getting any better? Guest guest
Just a small comment. I would say that if I was going on a diet high in fat 1) I would work with my Dr in checking my lipids 2) check them regular until I am sure how I will be affected. 3) take responsibility for myself. 4) know that all people do not respond to diet, foods and meds the same. I think a suit like that is frivolous. sort of like putting a cup of hot coffee between your legs, grow up, be responsible for yourself. and paaalease....he gained 8 pounds? exercise more or eat less, how simple is that? type 2 since 85, living til the cure
