Guest guest
Juli, You are addicted to carbs and have to get rid of the addiction, that means not answering the cravings. I think Atkins suggests a supplement to help stop them, L Glutamate (sp) The list can correct me if I am wrong, I use cheese to help me on that front. The first week is bad but once you get past that you start feeling awsome!! Hugs, Penny 173/158/130 Goal for Oct 31st is-----150!!!!! Guest guest
Welcome Juli! I found that all cravings for the carbs stopped by the 4th day. I'm not sure how to help you get through those first 3 days, but it's worth it if you can! Guest guest
i am somewhat of a vegetarian. not completely though, i eat fish and eggs. if you make an omelet of egg beaters which is less than one carb per serving and 30 calories per serving and you can have as big a serving as you want, you can even add regular eggs. put some vegetarian soy ground beef or i guess regular ground beef, in it and some cheese or 2% cheese which kraft has 1 carb., put a little green pepper and other seasonings that you may like like garlic, onion or onion flakes or powder, parsley, curry powder, black pepper etc. spray the pan with pam. either make an omelet or scrambled either tastes extremely good, very very low carbs. you can put it on a plate of lettuce or other greens with salad dressing, balsalmic vinigar with sprays of " i can't believe it's not butter spray " and you will have yourself a large and wonderful meal, you can substitute the meat with anything you like that's low in carbs. i have this almost every day because i love it and it leaves me full and that's a statement! also i need some ice-cream receipes. i would also like to drink soy powder protein drink as a substitute for a meal. does anyone know a good brand and what do i do with the heavy whipping cream in my refrigerator. ithandi RE: New > > > > >>-----Original Message----- > >>Hello, >>My name is Juli and I am new on this list..I have read every book I can on >>Dr. Atkins diet..my problem I do great on the diet until about 5 >>or 6 then I >>pig out on carbs..what can I do to stop this..besides sew my mouth >>shut... > >Ahhhh - duct tape??? > >Oh, hey, how about a lock on the kitchen door?? > >Ok, ok... Guest guest
juli- I have 140 emails to read so if someone already wrote this i apologize for the repeat.. THis is what I would do about your evening 'pig outs' I would eat a good size snack around 3:00 or 3:30. Eat a bunch of chuncks of cheese, or pepperoni slices or find some low carb dip you like and dip the pork rinds in them. If you keep yourself somewhat full and satisfied I really dont think you'll get that urge to pig out. Try this for a few days and try try to force yourself if needed not to give intothe cravings cause after about 3 days or so.. you wont crave it anymore! To me the KEY is not to EVER allow myself to get very hungry! i keep myself satisfied all day.. i munch on free foods all day and then at ddinner i'm not starving and i really dont care what i eat.. i eat to live, not live to eat!!!! I'm not even sure if we have them in our store. I was really getting tired of pretzels pretzels pretzels as my low-fat snack. Guest guest
Florida was nice... Except they lost our luggage on the way down. I KNEW it was going to happen cause our first connecting flight got canceled and they put us on another airline.. luggage never seems to get there when you're on 2 different airlines! We got in at 11am... but didnt get our luggage till 3am!!!! so we spent the day in a bar eating and drinking cause we didnt have anything to change into! But after that it all turned out great. We had a lot of fun. Saturdday i drank like 5 beers on the beach.... I LOVE DRINKING IN THE SUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i got pretty hammered and I dont normally drink much, so i'm sure that was a sight. Needless to say I gained 4 lbs on the trip, but have since got back on the woe and LOST THEM! We ate soo good down there... seafood everynight. I spent $200 on food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I probably wouldnt of gained if I hadnt drank the beer, the seafood wassnt bad and i really didnt eat pasta or potatoes or to many bad things. My girlfriends wedding is next weekend! (she's the one who took all of us to Sanibal Island, FL, her gift to her bridesmaids... cool huh) - i'm not going to have any alcohol til thanksgiving except for the wedding. Thanksgiving is my goal for a 15 lb lost.... we'lll see if i can do it. I really think i can do it.. it only took me 6 weeks to lose the first 14! Anyway... vacation is over... reality sets in .... and I realize.. I want another vacation!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha Ha... Mollie

Guest guest
Nat, We have them in our grocery store in the chips aisle. They didn't have much shelf space and were on the bottom shelf but they are there. I tried them and dont' really like them but they are carb-less so if you like them, go for it. I think I read here someone may have stalled on them though, may be an individual thing Cathy Nat Baker wrote: > > > >THis is what I would do about your evening 'pig outs' > >I would eat a good size snack around 3:00 or 3:30. I am new to the list and to the diet. I need some tips in how it works and what to do. I want to lose 30 - 40 pounds. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Marci >> Hey Marci, I'm Sheila and I love this list! Everyone here is great and very supportive. The first 2 weeks you are to keep ur carb count 20 and under per day. The legal foods are all meats, fish, poultry, and some dairy(no milk) like sour cream, cottage cheese, cheese. You can have in moderation salad with regular ranch, bleu cheese, just look for sugar and carb content. For veggies theres green beans, spinach. Its very hard to remember all of it, so if I leave out things someone here will help us out--hehe. We eat sugar free jello, oh and u can have butter and heavy cream. Do u have the book? That really helps, I still go back and look at things. I like roll-ups, thats a lunch meat with cheese and mayo, or mustard, i like sour cream rolled up in a lettuce leaf. I love bacon!! Marci theres alot more, but I cant think of more just yet here--lol!! I'm glad your here and I hope to hear from you soon. Take care! Guest guest
Marci, I think it is wonderful that you are trying out this WOL!! I have never felt better in my life!!! Have you read the book yet. In the book there is a list of the foods you can have on induction. It is pretty much meat, poultry, fish. cheese and Eggs. 3 cups of salad (no white onions and no tomatoes on induction) with dressing or 2 1/2 cups of salad and 2/3 cup of a cook vegie, (no corn, carrots peas, or lima beans Also no potatoes or sweet potatoes). Celery is acceptable!! it is 1.6 carbs a stick. Welcome to the list and if I missed something maybe one of the other members will fill you in more!!
