Hi, how is AJ doing?

How was Remi's trip to NY and Sesame Street?

Dawn, mommy to Dakota, 6(in 1st grade, only a few more years before the

boys are pounding down the doors) and , 2-1/2 (eosinophilic

gastroenteritis, fundo 10/96)

Hi Dawn! Thanks for asking about us.

-New York and Sesame Street went great. It was so good that after she left

the studi0, they called and wanted her back. Larry had the car phone off.

I could have killed him. I used the excuse that Arissa was throwing

up-what if it was a medical emergency?? She was throwing up. She has been

more, now that she isn't eating solid foods. I guess nothing to thicken

the liquid and help keep it down. The air dates are November 19th,

December 10th, May 20th and June 10th. From what Larry says, she is an

extra in her wheelchair in a brown sweatshirt.

On the medical front, we went to duPont hospital on Friday. We met with a

Dr. Shaffer. The visit was so wonderful. The nurses watched the

girls in the waiting area and we spoke for 1.5 hours. He put Arissa on

lactalose twice a day, prilosec since the reflux is worsening without food

and Gastrocrom-1 amp-4x/day. We laid out a game plan if that didn't work

or she wouldn't take the Gastrocrom. He gave me a printed explanation of

the GI department with procedures such as returning phone calls. It

doesn't mention what is done if the parent is always on line though. He

wants her off food for another month. Then if everything is okay, we will

once again try to add foods. He ordered blood tests to see how her blood

count EOS are. I told him, I asked for them at the time of the scopes

since she had the IV in. He just gave me a look and we were both thinking

the same thing-what was this doc doing to help AJ. HE offered to help with

getting insurance to cover Neocate and to help with SSI without me

mentioning it. I was very happy when I left there.

We started the prilosec and lactalose but the pharmacy didn't have the

Gastrocrom. With it being a holiday weekend, we should get it tomorrow.

Since Thursday, 4 out of 5 days have been wonderful. It has been 3 weeks

off food. The doc said it can sometimes take up to 6 weeks for the foods

to clear the system. Guess he was right on that call. I am still walking

on egg shells though, wondering when she is going to revert to her whiny,

cranky self.

Things are definitely looking up here.
