Guest guest
We are back, it is so nice to be home but we did not get any answers. We saw Dr. Vanderhoof and he did not have a clue as to what to do with but he said a close friend of his would certainly. Dr. Hugh Sampson. So, we are going to start plans to see Dr. Sampson. I have lots of questions. I am not sure how financially stable all of the other families are but my hubby is Army and well, poor to put it simple. We just can not afford this trip to land. Does anyone know of any agencies who may be able to help us? Guest guest
Dawn, I thought Dr. Sampson was up in NY?? Also, as you are no doubt aware, the military will Medevac anyone or pay for the transportation if they are unable to provide the needed care. If nothing else, contact the peds GIs here at WAlter and THEY can see you and send/arrange for further transportation. You should not be paying for any of this. When our first born was being worked up, the military flew us all over the place and many times, sent us out to civilian speciliasts and they paid for everythig including a travel claim for the transportation. Guest guest
I don't know if you told me before but were you Army? I will be checking this out tomorrow to see if they pay for anything. They told us no on our trips to Oklahoma and then the latest one to Nebraska. This doc in Nebraska is writing us a letter stating the necessity that we see Dr. Sampson. Hopefully, if nothing we may be able to get a loan from Army Emergency Relief. Guest guest
DAwn, we are Navy. I have been down this road over and over again. WHO told you no on your other trips and who is caring for your son? If there are not any peds GI services available where you are, then they HAVE To make arrangements FOR you. I am assumming your son is enrolled in the EFM program. If not, you need to get him in. Again, I really think you need go through the Army people at Walter . They can cut through all this red tape for you if nothing else. SJHarlow@... http://www.c4isr.com/harlow

How old is ? I really like Vanderhoof, and this group is great with getting what needs to be done, accomplished. I know right now I am in the dilemma of what to feed Ben. Most of his calories come from his G-tube. so food is not a major issue yet. So much has milk and soy IM really lost. Well, hope things go well. Guest guest
We live in Fort Riley, Kansas. Dr. Vanderhoof saw us in Lincoln at St. 's. I wish we knew we were just a hop and a skip from you. Maybe we could have met. I have heard nothing but great things about Dr. Vanderhoof and he was VERY nice. He also said he plans on following through to make sure we get everything set up for this appointment with Dr. Sampson. He also said Dr. Sampson is a very close friend of his. He said mostly we need to see Dr. Sampson so we can figure out what can tolerate to eat. I hope he doesn't mean allergy testing because I think we all know how inaccurate and unreliable those are. He was also very surprised that has been on Prednisone for over a year and has never been on Neocate or Vivonex. It would be very easy to just say to try these formulas but refuses to drink them and so they must be tube fed. None of us want that because wants to and does eat, his tummy just can't handle it.
