Hi Roy, before diabetes, I was a coke-a-holic. First thing in the morning,

last thing at night. The day I heard " diabetes " was the last day I had a

regular coke. I occasionally have a diet soda, but like you prefer iced tea. I

do

use crystal lite when I am in the mood for a change, but usually just drink

water. I have a very hard time drinking water from a glass, the smell of water

turns me off. I use a sports bottle at home, and order tea if I am out.

Does anyone else find water difficult to drink due to smell? Everyone else says

there is NO smell, but you could blindfold me and hold up empty glasses or

water glasses and I could tell you! LOL Hugs, Marilyn

For many years I had an intense diet pop addiction. Two litres, 12 cans of

diet pop in a day was nothing to me.

I never believed I had any problems with aspaetaame, no bad effects as I

hear many peeople have had. On the other hand, I did have a personal

concerns with the high sodum, caffeine, and phosphoric acid in the pop.

So I started making ice tea !!!!

My new beverage of choice is ice tea. I have a 2 litre glass container to

which I add a well-rounded 1/4 teaspoon of white stevia extract for

sweetening and usually 4 or 5 tea bags. At least 2 are green tea the other

2 or 3 are one of Tetley's wonderful flavours such as " Wild Berry " or (I

think it's called) " Summer Berry " . They also have a chammomile, a rooisbos

(sp?) vanilla, mint, etc. I mix and vary according to whim. I fill the

container with COLD water. The tea bags can sit in there overnight or loger

and never get that bitter over-brewed tea taste. And, if preferred, the tea

is ready to drink in aanywhere from 5 to 30 minutes. Like " sun tea " , except

sunlight is not required. I also sometimes use just green tea ot any other

'ordinary' tea such as orange pekoe and add a capful or so of bottled lemon

juice for a more traditional flavoured iced tea.

I prefer mine at room temperature, or it can be kept in the fridge or have

ice added when served.

Try it, you might like it...

I do !

Roy

What a lot of good ideas like the mix of green tea with a flavored one will

have to give that a try. I drink peppermint water or lemon water and green

tea with mint.

Yes yes yes, the smell of the water is awful. I take a brita water bottle

(has a little filer in it) otherwise I can't get it past my nose.
