Blood around GT site

Well, I think I have determined where the blood in Kody's stool

yesterday was coming from.

Today when I went to get him up from his nap, he had fresh blood around

his GT site (the site otherwise is clear, NO granulation and no swelling

or unusual redness around the site, just fresh, red blood) There is

also not a lot of blood, it covers just less than an inch in

circumference around the site,

He is not complaining much of anything either, his activity level is

about normal for him. I was beginning to think yesterday that he might

need a bigger tube, he has gained a whole pound this week and is getting

double the formula he was getting two weeks ago, he is doing so well.

the tube is a little snug. I hate to put him through taking it out and

measuring it,but this blood thing is a bit disturbing.

DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS OR HAVE YOU GONE THROUGH THIS.

You could withdraw the water from the balloon without taking the tube out if

it is a mickey tube. then reinsitll the correct amount.

Maybe there was more irritation around the site and caused some bleeding, just

a thought.

Kody continues to do well, off of all food and on the prednisone. It is

a terrble thing to refuse him food. WE try to distract him and eat when

he is not around. Someimtes it works better than others. However, he

has done better over the last couple of weeks than EVER before in his

life. As much as you don't want to keep food away from your son, (and I

would have agreed with you until the past couple of weeks).. this is a

definite eye opener for me. It is more important for Kody to have a

happy daily life without the constant pain, retching, etc etc. than it

is for him to eat. It is not much of a stretch to say that food was

killing him.

we have had trouble with the tube but that was solved by putting in a

larger one and his bleeding seems to hae subsided.
