What causes this?

Nobody seems to know what causes this, but I have my own ideas. One

doctor told me it is hereditary, the rest told me they have no idea or

it is a fluke. Personally, everyone I have met so far with this had

problems during pregnancy and/or birth. Research has told me that the

first thing that is affected when the oxygen is cut off to a baby, is

the gastrointestinal system. I want to know what caused this. Doctors

don't seem to care to find out, but I am desparate to know. Does anyone

have any feedback? And how many of you had pregnancy problems or

delivery problems, or prematurity? and how many did not so I can

compare. Thanks!

Most of the mothers I have had the privledge to interact with had difficult

pregnancies, myself included. Luke was a little early and the last trimester

was touch and go, I had some breakthrough bleeding and alot of low tummy

pressure. I was put off my feet for most of the last of my pregnancy.

That sounds like my birth story with Riley, except the oxygen got cut

off for different reasons, but he breathed in meconium also.

My pregnancy was tough. Gestational Diabetes, bleeding, bed rest and more.

was born on his due date. I had a c-section because I had had an

ultrasound which showed that he was over 12 lbs.

My first pregnancy before ended in a miscarriage at 11 weeks.

I was in full labor at 18 weeks and they held me off until 24 weeks but was in

labor every other day for six weeks and they told me that if Zach came before

the first day of the 24th week he wouldnt make it. Zach came that nite

weighing 16ozs and 9 in long. I had a horrible pregnancy took 5 yrs 4 yrs of

infertility and 1 yr of insemination and bled for two of the four months I was

pregnant. I had three miscarriages before Zach and had gotten pregnant the

typical way with all 3 of those pregnancies. Zach has a multitude of dxs

almost 15 and another one in the waiting possibly.

I had two miscarriages before delivering Arissa.

The cord was wrapped around Arissa's neck at birth. I know her breathing

kept dropping, wheather she stopped breathing before birth, i am not sure.

She swallowed the meconium, and it was in her lungs. In the hours after

birth, she stopped breathing several times.

She was a full term baby with a pretty easy pregnancy.

Wow, Zach is really a miracle baby! was 32 weeks, I went into labor

with him at 24 weeks and was hospitalized until I delivered at 32. Were

you on Magnesium? If so, do you notice any health probs after the birth?

that sounds like a very good theory to me...count me in on all three.

with I was on bedrest just about the whole PG cause first I was bleeding

and had placentaprevia and and then it was preterm labor, then with my

delivery they had to take e-mergency c-sec because my uterus ruptured ,

then ofcourse this happened at 34 wks so also premature. would be nice to know

what causes this. take care

I had a normal pregnancy with . He was a forcep delivery and the

doctors thought his skull was fractured initially. He also was

hospitalized for many days with severe jaundice. But, I also had a

miscarriage at 11 weeks before becoming pregnant with him. His older

sister had symptoms of EG, but outgrew them without too much trouble. We

have no allergies in our family.

was on Periactin (an anti-histamine) for many years because Dr.

recommended we use it to help alleviate 's constant hives. It did help

more than any other anti-histamines we had used before.

With my first I had hyperemesis. she was born at 38 weeks. Her EG was treated

with 3232-A an elemental formula for about 3 months. Transition to Milk at a

year without problems.

I did loose a baby at 13 weeks before .

With Ben I started with severe vomiting. Bleeding throughout the first 32

weeks. I was on TPN from week 10 thru delivery. I had an anaphylactic

reaction to an iron infusion that I need to treat my anemia, I had an abnormal

triple test so I had to have an amnio.

He was OK the first about 3 1/2weeks then he started screaming and refusing

food. He was ng fed at 6 weeks, and got his first g-button several weeks

later. Has had several central lines, 2 open liver biopsies and one closed.

I dot know if problem pregnancies cause the milk and soy protein intolerance.

But is sure doesn't help.
