Guest guest
WE belong to the Food Allergy Network. We just received their latest newsletter. The article on the front page talks about Parve products and if they are milk free or not. I don't know how many of your kids have milk/dairy allergy but this story made my head spin. I have always been told, the best products to use are those marked Parve because they have the highest standards for cleanliness. Even Dr. Sampsons nutritionist recommended all Parve products for that reason. Well, the story says that products meet the Jewish kosher laws and can be called Parve even if they have some milk in it. FAN tested some foods and indeed did find milk in them. The summary at the end states that because of the findings, FAN no longer recommends relying on Parve labeled products for milk-free diets. Arissa's is most definitely allergic to milk. I have always tried to use Parve because that has been what was suggested. Now I am wondering, how many of those foods we think she reacted to, was a contaminated food. Right now, we have her eating only rice because she has seemed so much better without eating. Is that the problem, not that she has now developed an intolerance to them?? Are there any totally safe foods out there? I am really upset about this. To add to all the confusion, now I have to wonder if safe foods are really safe.
