Guest guest
Dearest Ruby, From my experiance, the most importantant things for good health,in order of importance are: A good doctor(meaning one who is open ,who will listen to you and your body, who will consider alternative therapes,Who will refer you to diabetes education including a nutritionalist-dietician, who will help you build a team of support doctors, who WILL NOT use you as an experiment for the latest and newest drugs and MOST important, who does NOT believe that no matter what you do you will get worse(believe me there are a lot out there who automatically believe this incorrect information). Next that you eat all whole foods meaning: that they be whole wheat, brown or basmati rice ,fresh fruits and vegitables, whole soy bean products, whole grains, fresh juiced veges and fruits, organic and lean meats,(actually everything organic as much as possible), honey or fructose sweetened items (only twice a week),organic low fat milk products(did you know it's best to have a little high quality fat with your carbos?), and lot's of water(bottled and if you tolerate it welll), Also make sure you get alot of fibre(all medications constipate) Next:: exercise( walking AND weight bearing are best) It helps reduce stress and blood sugar! So does some simple form of meditation(believe me,having faith in a higher power than yourself is essential in dealing with and mastering this disease) , correct medication for your needs, plenty of oxygen ( I keep my windows open when possible and go to an oxygen bar twice a week which helps me see clearer and sleep better), and a proper amount of sunlight( it helps stop depression) P.S ..Make sure your care giver gets completely educated about your disease and your needs! These are the most important and general guide lines There are other helpfull things;depending on your personal situation in respect, your new friend Celeste
Guest guest
I've found low glycemic juice like apple and pear to be O.K. Of course I use only 2 to 3 ounces with 6 to 8 ounces of plain seltzer water with ice and only once per day if I feel poluted by medications. My diabetic nutritionalist reccomended it over artificial sweeteners as they cause the liver to secrete glucose like when your fasting and that eventually can drive up your over all blood sugar. Three years ago I drank nothing but artificially sweetened drinks and as I mentioned my blood sugar reading were above 250. even though I was taking the maximum dosage of Actos at the time. But some may be in syndrone X to the degree that they have to be very careful and it might not help. Don't add it as an extra food .Count it as a carbo allotment and have a nice 1 or 2 ounce of cheese with it so your blood sugar won't spike and remember to count the carbo in the cheese.. When I was first diabetic I really became really afraid of foods. But,after a lot of research and trying things, I'm no longer afraid. It also helped for me to pray and I seemed to get intuitions that have really helped. I guess I should have mentioned that in the guidelines. Meditation is passive prayer where you still your thoughts and listen to the creator. I believe meditation and prayer go hand in hand. So, if anything I suggest helps feel free. If not let it pass. in respect, your new friend Celeste
