Sharon{{{{{ big hugs for you and for clayton}}}}}} ok as you know has

Hirschprungs and the Fundo and the G-button so sounds like Clayton mwy be

following in the same foot prints unfortunatly. ok lets see the first ? you

had was about the barrium ennema its really no big deal its alot like the

upper GI only through the other end a little uncomfortable but nothing

terrible you will be able to see on the X-ray a big bloated area in the bowel

and the and it will go the rest of the way down to the rectum. ok next the

biopsy they are looking for the absence of nerve cells called anglaie(?) cells

any ways basicly mean that if htose cells arent there then he cant move the

poop ( excuse my terms LOL) because of the way the colon works you have to

have them. ok next thing is that when they do the biopsy they will put

clayton under and go up through his bottom and take a little section of his

colon they will then freeze that and look at it under a microscope if the

nerve cells arent there then he has hirshprungs. so they will then go and put

in a colostomy or an illieostomy depending on how much of an area is

effected. this really isnt as bad as it seems the colostomy isnt that bad to

deal with ( believe me I know changed them for a little over a year on chris)

it will become second nature to you just like changing a diaper. the only

thing is you will have to watch him to make sure the the colostomy stay

working but they ususally do so dont worry about it too much. hmm I am trying

to think if I have answered all of your ? if not e-mail me or give me a call

at home I will be more than happy to talk to you about this and help ya out

anyway I can!! rember the colostomy isnt forever just temporary till the rest

of the colon ( meaning the working section) can be pulled down to the rectum

and till it can heel.and as far as the colostomy he can do everything he does

now with it.. IE swim , go to the beach, any thing so dont let that worry you

either. ok here is my phone number at home ( 409) 933-0699 and to my cell

phone ( 713) 392-4379 you can call me at anytime day or night that you need to

talk.or you can IM me or Email me either one . also here are some links for

Dear Sharon,

Sorry to hear about this latest round of bad news. I don't know anything

about Hirschprungs megacolon but I wish you the best and hope the tests turn

out negative.

That Children't Motility Disorder Foundation definitely has information on

Hirschprungs, BTW.

Lynda
