My son hasn't been on it for the last two years, so I haven't bothered to keep up with the latest research. My, it does sound like your family has its hands full with all of those tummy problems! Good thing you can get that omeprazole at the Walter pharmacy, huh? BTW, has any of your children been followed down there by a Dr. Victor Pineiro-Carrero? Guest guest
I just read a few posts on Omeprazole and wanted to pass on a few tidbits of info. When the drug initially came out, it was used sparingly becuase of the lab rats increased incidence of tumors at huge doses. However, over the past 18-24 months SEVERAL studies have been released showing the safety and efficacy of this drug, even in children in large doses. This is a subject I dove deeply into about a year ago. Our 10-y/o takes 60mg a day of Prilosec and has for 1-1/2 years. Our 3/yo takes 20mg/day (he only weighs 28 lbs) and two others take 20mg /day. I have been on it for two years and will probably be on it for life. For us, it works wonders and it has been shown to work well for most people. Of course, no one wants their kids to be on any more meds than they really need to be; however, if it works to keep the esophagitis at bay, it is certainly worth it to avoid developing Barrett's. Just my two cents worth. SJHarlow@... http://www.c4isr.com/harlow
Guest guest
I am glad to hear that.... I am on it as well. Well actually Previcid. Same thing. I was getting worried too. It's safe to take while pregnant as well. ---------- > From: SJHarlow@... > To: eosinophilic gastroenteritis (AT) onelist (DOT) com > Subject: [eosinophilic gastroenteritis] Prilosec > Date: Saturday, June 27, 1998 1:13 PM > > From: SJHarlow@... > > I just read a few posts on Omeprazole and wanted to pass on a few > tidbits of info. > > When the drug initially came out, it was used sparingly becuase of the > lab rats increased incidence of tumors at huge doses.
