I just received my newletter from Mothers of Ashtmatics. They have a notice

regarding health plan experiences.

" The Patient Advocacy Team (PAT) of the American Medical Association's Health

Law Division is asking for information concerning any recent problems or good

experiences people have had with health plans. "

" PAT hears from patients and physicians regarding plans that sometimes deny

necessary treatment, refuse to pay for promised care, or reject payment for

phycisian-perscribed medications if such medications are not formally included

in the plan "

" Please call Evamarie Norey at (312)464-4835 or send e-mail information to

Evamarie_Norey@... with your stories, thoughts or comments. "

Almost any insurance will accept him. But, you will probally have to have it for about a year before they will cover his mito related problems. It is called the Pre-Existing clause. We recently switched and we have a period of time where they will cover any new problems but not anything she has been already seen for. They do, however, pay for her prescriptions no matter if it is a new one or not. We have Anthem Blue Cross Blue Sheild PPO.

I thought because of the new Hippa law that they can not deny

coverage anymore for pre-existing conditions. If your concerned

about switching insurance I would look into the rules of Hippa.
