Overnight trip

Wanted y'all to know that hubby and I went and were near or in some of y'all's areas this Friday and Saturday. We left late Friday morning and first didn't know where we wanted to go ~ just to go somewhere where we didn't see downed trees and destruction !!! They're still cleaning things up here but there are many places that have not even started clearing things up yet !!

We were going to go to Vicksburg, MS ~ but that is about a 5 hour drive (less than our favorite place ~ the Hill Country (and this is clear across LA diagonally !!!!!!). So we took off to Marshall ~ into East Texas. Loved seeing the rolling hills ~ which is something we enjoy in the Hill Country ~ but there is more 'greenery' here ~ even though it's so dry !!!!!

Went to the Marshall Pottery Company ~ but it didn't seem to be the same as many years ago. I could have sworn that it was more 'in town' not out somewhat ~ and in an old building. The woman who worked there told me that it has always been where it's at !!!!! But I don't think I was imagining things !!! Was disappointed in it !!!!

Also went to the Pottery Tent ~ which is similar to a store in Beaumont ~ recognized the same name as the one here and asked and sure enough they're associated together !!!!! This one is a lot bigger though !!! Really liked it more !!

Then we went to Longview, Kilgore ~ over to Overton where they advertised a Peanut Butter Emporium ~ which hardly had anything !!! Guess that was good for my sake !!!!! Then onto New London and went into the museum about the school that had been destroyed in '37. It was very interesting and so touching !! I remember hearing of that but thinking it was in Daingerfield or something like that. Left there ~ went through , Nacogdoches,Lufkin, Jasper and then home....... recognized some names of towns we were close by ~ Mineola, Springs, and others ~ I know Willie is up around there somewhere too !!!! Came back yesterday evening and enjoyed the one night away !!!! Seems whenever we take a trip we just drive, drive, drive !!!!!!! And now it's me doing most of the driving !!!!!!!

Anyway .......sorry about the book ........but did think of some of y'all on our trip !!!!!!

OH !!! AND isn't there a highway that starts out in Texas and goes into LA with garage sales all along the way ?????!!!! Seems I read something about that somewhere !!!! Does anyone know ???????!!!!!! I know many of y'all are farther west ~ but Janice, Willie and others are around here......sorry if I'm leaving off anyone !!!!!! Hugs, Randie
