Guest guest
, excuse me for being blunt I'm on a time shortage this morning but you need to find a qualified Ponseti doctor before it's too late, you're running out of time if he's already 14 months old to get this fixed before someone gets knife happy on your little man. s. Hi everyone! I am a mom of two great little ones. My daughter Madison is 3 1/2 and our little guy, JOhn is 14 months. was born with severe bilateral clubfeet. He was casted within 2 hours of birth and was casted continuously until 8 months. He now wears orthopaedic shoes and attends physiotherapy. We are having some setbacks with . His feet are both really inverting (left more than the right). He does not walk and is below the 5th percentile for milestones. He is also having trouble with muscles in his legs that he just is not using. We are now being referred to Toronto Hospital for Sick kids as they have a clubfoot clinic there. I hope I am welcome to join your group!

Guest guest
Hi , welcome to the group! You will find that the combined knowledge and experience of this group is just awesome and the support here is phenomenal! We're so glad that you could join us! Can you tell us where you are located and what doctor has been seeing? Did undergo any surgeries thus far? Tell us about his orthopaedic shoes...are they AFO's (ankle/foot orthosis) or are they open-toed shoes attached by a bar (DBB/FAB)? Guest guest
Hi , Yes we are terrified of this situation! Yes, was casted continuously for the 8 months. We put our faith in the Orthopaedic surgeon and we are just let down. did have his achilles severed at 3 weeks which helped but his feet are getting harder to put in the correct position while we do our stretches. I am familiar with the Ponseti method now after our physiotherapists showed us on Wednesday. Now to maek matters worse our Paediatrician is leaving tbis week and is ddropping all of his patients and we were not notified. We are furious. Luckily our family Dr. will see JOhn on Tuesdau afternoon to do the referral to Toronto Sick Kids. I just hope the waiting list to get in is not months and months, because needs help now. We are see our regular surgeon on January 6 nad see what he has to say. Thanks for all of your input! LAura > , > Welcome, welcome welcome!!!! Guest guest
, Whatever you do, DON'T do surgery. 's feet can be fixed without surgery. You need to find a Ponseti certified doc ASAP! There are others from this site who live in Canada and can hopefully guide you to the right doctor. You can also send pictures of 's feet directly to Dr. Ponseti himself and get his opinion. Afterall, he is the master! If you have more questions, please ask and we will help you. Good luck and let us know about the progress. Guest guest
Like I've shared earlier, my son was in casts for one year, and I can tell you the muscle tone will develop. but it's not a matter or having it bounce back because as you just said, they never had it to begin with. But I have found through excercises and physical therapy, jasons legs are getting stronger every day. those muscles can be developed...it just takes time and persistence. Course, now we're back in casts again due to relapse, but that's a whole other pot to boil! hehe! There is hope! You haven't lost those muscles, they just need work! Hang in there and get a good doctor! I personally recommend dr. p. We will drive the distance every week to make sure jason is in good hands! Hang in there, > Oh , > > > > I agree with everyone else. Guest guest
Christian's doctor said he would " bounce back " and that was after almost 3 months of casts. I think I would just be freaked out about the whole thing if it was almost a year or a year in casts. Guest guest
What was really frustrating was learning that if we had gone to dr. ponseti in the beginning we would have needed only one surgery and maybe 8 weeks of casting...not a full year of them. Oh how I cried when I learned that. Even now it makes me teary eyed. But I know that God will work this out for 's good and my good, that's a promise. He says He will work ALL THINGS out for good for those that love him. We've met so many people and helped so many as a resullt of the path we've gone down with . I am just thankful we are in the best hands here on earth. It's a good lesson in trust and letting go to let God do His work. He created and loves him even more than I do...hard to believe. > > Oh , > > > > > > > > I agree with everyone else. Guest guest
, I said those same words to Don this morning. As we're planning to drive over again this weekend (my mom is coming instead of my hubby) through the bad weather we talked about how much more God loves than we do and that He'll keep His hand on us because indeed ALL things work together for good to them that love him and keep His commandments. I agree that we've met so many people that we would have never met, and have been blessed and allowed to bless others because of it. Sometimes I am in awe of how the Lord works in our lives. Guest guest
, That was beautiful! And I couldn't agree more. I am ashamed to say that in the midst of the " deep, dark clubfoot " days as I call them, I had a little doubt in God. We traveled 7 hours one way to see a Ponseti trained doctor 13 weeks in a row and then found out that Livie's foot was not corrected and we needed to go to Iowa. I was devastated that day. I cried and cried and just kept asking God, " Why?, Why does this have to be so hard. " I have always been of the opinion that God never gives us what we don't need and with His help can't handle, but I truly thought that day that God must think I had the shoulders of Samson. I couldn't imagine getting in a car AGAIN to take Livie to yet another doctor. That first trip was a doosy with weather and 12.5 hours of drive time, but as soon as we met Dr. Ponseti I knew that we had done the right thing and that God was going to make it all okay. I'm tearing up now just thinking about those days and how He saw us all through. There were a number of times that I just didn't feel like I could get in the car again, but God gave me the strength. There were countless times that I had the money for gas to get there, but no money for a room to stay or food to eat. I can't tell you the number of times that a check showed up in the mail that we hadn't expected. I fell on my knees and praised His name and I still do! It's humbling to me to know that no matter how much I love my kids, God loves them even more! He will see you through!! Guest guest
We too have had those humbling experiences. After 2 different dr's, 6 months of casting and one damaging surgery, the doctor said he had no idea what to do. I cried and cried on the way home. I was questioning God and not trusting when I came to stop at a red light in front of a church. On the sign outside, it had the verse, " In all things give thanks. " That's when I learned that it doesn't matter what you are going through, give Him thanks for what He's doing and what He's got planned. We learned another lesson this summer before making the 8 week stay at Iowa. My husband and I had gotten out of the habit of tithing, giving to our church. It's easy to give when you know the bills are going to be paid. We didn't know how we were going to make ends meet and we decided just to do it. One week after giving to God, trusting that He would come up with the rest of the money for bills and our trip to Iowa, our church called and said they wanted to do a walk-a-thon to raise money to help jason walk. Wow!! When God says trust me and see that I won't open the floodgates of heaven, he means it!! He is so faithful, I don't know why I am always so surprised when He goes above and beyond!! Human nature I guess. Thank God He forgives me when I doubt! > > > Oh , > > > > > > > > > > > > I agree with everyone else.
