Guest guest
Hi Ronke and All I think the more I hear about medical treatment abroad compared with here, the more I feel disenchanted about the service we get in the UK. I am beginning to think that we are fast developing into a third world country. Guest guest
From Ken Earl I went to Sweden to have my band put in and before I went built myself up with protein supplements and vitamins and exercise and after the operation I felt great I walked every where that's what I seem to think what helped me though the operation with no pneumonia I also took my supplements in liquid form with me to continue the strength. They said with the open operation it would take 3-4 days recovery and the laparoscopic 1-2 days I was up and walking the next day with my open surgery while the other two people that I went with had the other done and had a little more recovery time and still did'nt feel as good as I did. I would do the same thing again Its like you and your body against the all the things that may go wrong you have to prepare yourself. Guest guest
Hi Janet, there's no doubt about it the treatment that you get from medical services is a lottery....I'm hoping that by having this operation at a Medical School I should receive treatment that is relatively up to date...after all the students are the surgeons of tomorrow so one hopes that they will have a sound foundation. Guest guest
Angel, you have my best wishes that the Pneumonia gets taken care of as soon as possible, but don't do too much, because it's really easy to have a relapse. I know it's hard to deal with especially with it aggravating your pancreas, I had pneumonia and pancreatitis in December at the same time. I was lucky, I ended up (after much screaming to my regular GI) getting a doctor willing to treat both problems. Hope all gets better soon. Kimber -- Kimber hominid2@... Guest guest
Thanks Kimber, They gave my two zithromax yesterday and I'm to continue it over 4 more days so I hope it wipes it out quickly. It never fails, I always get sick before or during a trip. I'm going to the Business Professionals of America national conference on Tuesday in Chicago and it's so important that I go. I am the president of my chapter and I haven't missed a conference in the last four years. Plus most of the trip is already paid for by myself and I don't think I'll be reimbursed if I don't go. This is kind of the highlight of my year so I really want to go! Hopefully if I take it easy I will be able to get through it. I'm just going to take my vicodin on a schedule so my pain doesn't get out of control and I'm going to finish up my antibiotics. Plus about 3/4 of the time I'll be in Chicago is free time so I'll be able to rest when I need to. It just bums me out because Chicago is such a great town with lots to do, but I'll do what I can do and not worry about what I'm not doing. Thanks again. Guest guest
Angel, taking it easy is the best thing you can do. Did they say if it was viral or bacterial pneumonia? I had bacterial, gram negative, which is the worst kind you can get and it, with the pancreatitis, put me in the hospital for about 2 weeks and out of work for another 2 weeks. Hope yours is the easier kind. Kimber -- Kimber hominid2@... Southwest Representative Pancreatitis Association, International
Guest guest
Hi Angel, When I took Zithromax, I got a bad pancreatitis attack and landed in the hospital for a week. If your gut starts to hurt, get another antibiotic pronto. Good Luck in Chicago (my home town!).
